The exhibition of the Pre-Qin Hall on the second floor is very detailed from the historical narrative to the development of cultural branches. The social education device is very reasonable and can attract the public's interest. It is the best museum since Suzhou, Dunhuang, Taizhou, Turpan and other places. And compared with the Xining Museum, its textual explanation is very good, providing enough information for people's imagination. It is enough to watch for three hours without explanation. It would be more interesting with explanation. Unfortunately, the texts other than Chinese are relatively scarce, which is suitable for popular science with Chinese cultural education background. You don't need to look up information to get the most information quickly. The main reason is that there are a lot of people in the museum. It is recommended as the first stop in Xinjiang.

Too many things to see in the museum but we had too little time. There are 6 to 8 halls to visit, each with a unique theme, including bronze artifacts, mummies, clothes of different dynasties, and artifacts from different dynasties. We could not even find all of the top 10 treasures of the museum in 2 hours.

The Xinjiang Museum is both modern and large, and it has many items of interest on display - all kinds of items from the past and from different cultures that had lived in the area. What I really like in the museum are the many life-like statues that depict the dress and activities from the area. These statures appear to be very realistic, and they really give a sense of what people look and do in the areas surrounding Urumqi - very nice!
This Museum is a very nice, worthwhile place to visit.

Lots of interesting ancient artifacts from the region including mummies. Although only some of the texts have English it is still a useful introduction to the history of the area.
Toilets are gross (standard) but the museum is free which is fantastic.

ウイグルがどうやってできたのか、なぜイスラムなのか、どんな民族がいたのか?などがこの博物館に行くと分かります。ここまで色んな文化の入り混じる場所は中国には少ないと思うのでみる価値ありです。

Great place to spend a few hours to learn about the history of xInjiang and the various influences that it has had from trade along the Silk Road. There are English (Chinglish) translations alongside the displays so it is quite informative. Altogether a very well curated museum and well worth a visit!

ウルムチに来たらローランの美女に会いに来る場所です。朝一番にきてはじめに二階のミイラの展示されているコーナーを空いているうちに回るのがポイントです。ちょっとするとビックリするほど混んできます。

The museum offers much history with English captions to give understanding to the dynamics of trade, both east and west that benefited both the east and the west. The mummies are fascinating to see as well as seeing the diversity of people in the region. Exhibits give a good picture of migration of people’s, cultures, and religions.

We visited this museum by taking a taxi and arriving at 9:30am. Many buses stop at outside the museum, including 7,51,52 ,906 , 910, 912 and 928. The museum opens at 10:00am, but there was already a long line at 9:30am. The museum is free but has a limit of 2,000 visitors a day, so I would advise that you arrive early to avoid long lines or risk being disappointed at not gaining entry. There is a quick security check, and then you may enter the museum. Free english audio guides are available to the right, but the line was too long, so we decided to continue to the exhibits.

The exhibits are on two floors. There were at least five big tour groups which made viewing the exhibits really difficult, as there were long waits to get a glimpse of the best areas. The first exhibit downstairs is the display of Xinjiang Nationality customs. This area had mannequins displaying clothing, dance, gers and wrestling. Other displays of musical instruments, vases, copper/metal containers, weapons, items of daily use and clay/stone carvings. The hall to the right is the Historical Relics exhibition. Displays included "man" stones, pottery, masks and sculptures. We enjoyed the recreated tomb with buddhist decorations. There were quite a few terracotta figurines.

The second floor has the most popular displays, including the Mummies from the Turpan area. There were many mannequins that again exhibited activities of local life of that era. The main features are the mummies, some of which were removed from the Astana cemetery in Turpan, which we visited the previous day. We thought that the displays were very good, but preferred the Turpan museum where it was less crowded and we had more time to view the exhibits. The last hall had displays of clothing and costumes worn through the years in the Xinjiang Region.

We thought that it was a good museum, but spent an hour and were glad to be outside away from the crowds. If you are interested in mummies, I would suggest that the Turpan museum is also visited. A nearby attraction is the Geology Museum, which is a short walk north east. There are a few fast food restaurants opposite the museum, but care should be taken when crossing the road, as this is a very busy area.
