ウルムチの郊外に,世界で一番海から離れたポイントがあり,その記念に作られたようです.ただ,周囲には目立った観光名所はありません.

We took a taxi from the Urumqi Airport to visit the Center of Asia marker. The monument is 26 km southwest of Urumqi, and can be reached in 45 minutes from the airport. We initially tried to book this as a tour, but all tour providers were over RMB1,000 so we decided to take a taxi. If you walk to the right on exiting the International Terminal, a sign for the taxi stand will be visible. All taxis have to form a line to pick up passengers. We showed the taxi driver a photo of the Center of Asia monument and asked how much it cost, but he indicated that he would use the meter,

The roads were good all the way to the monument, and the final 10 km had quite a few signs indicating the distance to the monument. We paid the RMB 30 entry fee and received tickets which had a layout of the attraction on the rear. The entrance to the park had two administrative buildings, and a central area which had two sculptures of persian and asian architecture. There used to be a globe in this area, but it had been removed. The path to the monument was lined on either side by a monument and flags representing each of the 49 Asian countries. This area was our favourite, as we had visited quite a few Asian countries, and were able to identify the flags and the meaning of the monuments. We thought that the best monuments were a Gun with doves atop done by Palestine, and stating "long live peace" at the base. The Japanese Sumo monument was also interesting.

In this area there was also a monument to the Afghanistan Buddhas of Bamyan which were destroyed by the Taliban in 2001. We thought that this was a great tribute, and fitting to be displayed in the Asia Park. The monument stands in the center of the park, and is again surrounded by 59 cubes representing the Asian countries and a map of the Asian continent is on the ground behind the monument. The pictures on the cubes were faded and barely recognisable. We hope that the necessary maintenance is done to restore them.

My son and I stood on the base of the marker and touched the pendulum shaped central monument that hung from the tower. There were only three other tourists when we visited, so it appears that the distance from Urumqi may be a factor in the low number of visitors. We had visited the Asia Europe monuments in Yekaterinburg the previous year, so this visit was a must on our list. It should be noted that Russia also has a center of asia monument in the Tyva Republic, but the calculations used were very different from this version where the Chinese Academy of Sciences determined this point in 1992.

When we returned to Urumqi, the taxi meter showed RMB185, but the driver asked for RMB300. We settled on RMB220 and walked away leaving him angry...at himself I think. My advice is to either agree the price in advance with the Taxi, or agree to use the meter...which we thought we did. Either way it should cost RMB200 on average.

アジアの中心というより、アジアで海からもっとも遠いポイントらしいです。塔と彫刻みたいなのがいくつかあるだけの、とても殺風景なところです。公共交通機関がないので、タクシーで行くほどではないと思います。

My friend and I arrived by public bus from Urumqi. That meant we still needed to walk about 5km in the heat to arrive. The Marker is very much in the middle of nowhere, but it was quite interesting. A nice monument, but it would be much easier to arrive by car.

We took a taxi from urumqi and was charged 200yuan for 4 of us. The road is very good except when the driver lost his way, we ended up at the bumpy road at the nearby village. However, we enjoyed the scenery at the village as we can see the Centre of Asia gate and its marker. We paid the entrance fee of 5yuan each through our driver. There was nobody there except 2 workers sweeping the area, the ticket girl, the taxi driver and 4 of us. It was a very quick trip. You can feel that you are so proud to be at the place
It is a must visit if you are in Urumqi, because there is no other place on earth named as Centre of Asia!!

Well if you are in the area you and/or have the time you might as well come to the Centre of Asia! We are at the beginning of a drive around Western Asia (Caucuses and the ‘stans) and figured why not touch the Centre of Asia?! There is not much else out here so come down the bumpy roads, see the sculptures and get your photo taken in the Geographic Centre of Asia, it’s a neat feeling to be there amid the vast lands.

There is nothing much there except the marker and two rows of sculptures and some art pieces. It's very windy as it's quite an empty and vast land surrounding the areas, so prepare for the cold wind, if you go in November like us. Just be there and imagined yourself standing at a point that is farthest away from the sea. It's amazing feeling.

Although disputed as being the true centre of Asia, if you're in the area and are able to make a quick trip to this attraction it would be worth it. There is not much there, the landscape is quite barren and you shouldn't expect much in terms of tourism services (especially in the winter months), but to say that you have stood at the centre of Asia is pretty awesome. There are markers surrounding the central piece representing every Asian country, and the whole layout / structure is impressive.

Truly amazing. I was rendered speechless. My life has been changed. Forever.

As I stood by this fine work of architecture, I could feel Asia pulsing through me. I could feel it all, from the snow leopards roaming free in the mountains of Afghanistan, to the aromas of cinnamon and star anise in the markets of Bengal, to the drug-dealing taxi drivers of South East Asian towns, to the members of a professional Georgian football team passing a ball around in their training session, under the false impression that they are Europeans and training hard in a bid to land Europa league qualification, which given their socio-economic status and their culture of locking women in cupboards, is a complete joke. All of these things have one thing in common, their connection to this flimsy wire structure. A structure I was standing by.

A tear came to me eye. I realised that myself and this grand continent were one.
