It was closed whilst we were there, but really the marvel is from the outside.

Stunning mosque, beautiful architecture.

Shame about the shops selling tat right next to it, but well worth a look. Stunning

If you look into this beautiful mosque from the surrounding hills you will get the impression of being in an Aladdin Movie, very nicely designed in a way to beautifully center the old market and the neighboring desert and sea...

I visited this Mosque as part of a TUI tour of Sharm. It was set in the midst of the OLd Market but, unlike the Al Mostafa Mosque, we were able to go inside. Women could borrow long dresses and scarfs.

The visit was spectacular and we took many photos, many shops and many little places to discover. Not to be missed but bring a jacket in the evening.

Al Sahaba Mosque is the largest mosque of Sharm el-Sheikh, located in the heart of the old Market in the old district of the city. Observing the mosque from the square is a special experience, its beauty is enchanting. Designed by Fouad Tawfik Hafez, the monumental mosque fuses Fatimid, Mamluk and Ottoman style elements into its architecture and interior design. The mosque is built on an area of 3 thousand meters, and it includes two minarets, each 76 meters high, and a large number of domes, and it accommodates more than 3 thousand worshipers. But this is not a historical mosque, but a modern one, it was built in 2016. The mosque, whose name refers to the companions of the Prophet Muhammad, is one of the most important Islamic structures built in the country in the 21st century. Also, it is considered one of the most important in Sharm el-Sheikh and one of the most beautiful in the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt. Its high minarets are visible from almost anywhere in the Hadaba district, and in the evening it is very beautifully illuminated.

We visited Old Market and the Mosque area at around 10pm - it was absolutely stunning. So pleased that we went. You must go at night time, it is an incredible building and even more impressive lit up.

Previously, tourists came to the so-called Oldtown in Sharm exclusively for shopping, since prices in local stores were lower. Frankly speaking, this place did not evoke positive emotions in me, since it was very dissonant with the clean and tidy Naama, which, frankly, I simply adore.
But this happened before, before the famous events with the plane. I haven’t been to Sharm for ages: already 9 years. And finally, a new meeting!
It was very pleasant to visit those places with which so many vivid memories are associated. Frankly, I was most surprised and amazed by the Old Town. This location has become civilized and nice. The shops, of course, remain, and there is also an emphasis on shopping. But everything around has become much better and more attractive.
The main building in Oldtown is, of course, the El Sahaba Mosque, opened at the end of 2016. It is very impressive in size, capable of accommodating up to 3 thousand believers. It looks great both during the day and in the evening when the backlight is turned on.
Thanks to the changes that have taken place in the Old Town, a visit to this tourist location during a holiday in Sharm El Sheikh now definitely makes sense. Moreover, even if shopping doesn’t interest you at all. Although it’s extremely difficult not to get drawn into it here...)))

It's really worth a visit, unfortunately we only visited it from the outside because my son wasn't in the mood that evening 😅 however in the evening even from the outside all lit up it makes a crazy impression from afar, I will definitely go in next time.

A beautiful mosque, the pearl of the Old City. They are allowed inside, open until 21:00, to the left of the entrance to the mosque they give out free clothes for women. Beautiful day and night when illuminated.

One of the most vivid impressions left from a trip to Sharm el-Sheikh was visiting the Al-Sahaba Mosque. Built in 2016. I really wanted to watch it both during the day and in the evening with the lights on. Fortunately, the location next to the Old Market makes this task easily accomplished)) Such a huge number of shops will not let you go quickly)) Even if there are fakes and a lot of nonsense... this only emphasizes the oriental flavor.
I read that tourists are not allowed into the mosque. We didn't have any problems. They only asked me to wait until the prayer was over. Then my daughter and I were prepared for the visit... They didn’t just cover my head and shoulders, but dressed me up in the dresses of oriental women!! I even liked it)) On the left there is a special room for changing clothes with dresses, skirts, capes, etc. My husband was allowed in as he was - in a T-shirt and shorts.
We walked around all the rooms and visited the 2nd floor. Beautiful, of course. Carpets, carved columns, painted walls, ornaments... But from the outside it makes a much stronger impression. Eye-catching! And in the evening with backlight it looks simply amazing!
Describing this mesmerizing spectacle and those breathtaking impressions is futile. You have to see for yourself! It’s better, as they say, to see once...
