Altro tempio visitato lo Swaminarayan Temple che fu eretto nel 1822 nella città vecchia e primo luogo di culto per gli hindù costruito da Swaminarayan. Decorato e molto bello. Si lasciano le scarpe fuori ed è possibile fare foto all'interno.

Quite a few temples and another one opened soon. Worth a visit to see the marble work, again get some peace away from Ahmedabad. You can purchase food in a clean and comfortable environment

Could not see the deity as the temple stays shut from 12-4 nevertheless the outer façade is worth visiting with intricate designs and motifs and equally colourful
Located in Old Ahmedabad but away from crowded places.
Definitely a visit when in Ahmedabad as it has a charm of its own.

I was visited in evening temple of narayana gate will open in evening at 06:15 pm so if you visit in evening then go after 06:30 pm

Nice temple, neat and clean. Worth visiting. It has a unique appeal of its own. It is in the old city but not in the crowded part.

Our Old Ahmedabad heritage walk began at the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kalupur. This Temple was the first one to be constructed by the Swaminarayan Sampraday... The carvings are intricate! The art depicts auspicious symbols.
The gate is no less ornate... In one part of the temple, Swaminarayan's personal items are displayed! It was interesting to find out the land for construction of this shrine was gifted by the British.

one of the peaceful and holy place in Ahmedabad.
We stayed overnight as the temple have dharmashala and stay for devotees and general public at very cheaper rates than hotel.
Temple has got its own Prasadalay where in one can eat holy Prasad or meal.
Must visit place for all ages.

This marvelous piece of architecture, the first Shree Swaminarayan Temple in the world, was situated just a ten-minute walk away from our guest-house. The road leading to the temple complex has shops selling the famous namkeen (salted, deep-fried snacks) of Ahmedabad and vegetable vendors occupying both sides. The yummy snacks must be displayed in air-tight containers.
At the entrance, huge, ornate wooden doors greet us, flanked by lamp-posts, to which two lions’ statues cling playfully! The marble temple stands majestically in the center of the huge courtyard with ground plus three storied buildings (Havelis) with brilliantly carved wooden ornamentation; on 3 sides. The carvings on the walls and pillars of the temple are also colorful and minutely etched. Carvings of elephants, cows, celestial beings, deities, etc. are a glorious sight to behold!
The main deities’ shrine of Nar Narayan Dev is flanked by shrines of other deities. At the entrance to this main temple, are two shrines dedicated to Lord Ganesh and Lord Hanuman. All the idols were made of marble.
We paid obeisance to all the deities, meditated awhile and stepped out to click snaps. Scores of pigeons were feeding on grain scattered all around, in the courtyard. The mellow morning sunlight lent a yellow tinge to the entire complex and we felt very peaceful and calm.
Tourist vehicles, mainly cabs, were speedily entering the complex, non-stop.
The complex is very well-maintained but a shoe-stand must be installed there.
Some distance must be maintained between the majestic heritage site and the vendors. We saw scooters parked right in front of the beautiful lamp-posts; and other paraphernalia obstructing the full view of the elegant facade of the temple complex.

We visited in the afternoon. After which, we went for the laser show in the evening- a must for the visit. I have forgotten the time, but it is open throughout the day.
