Seth Hutheesing Kesarsinh, a prosperous 19th century Ahmedabad merchant, was the one who began the building of this very ornate stone temple in the mid-1800s; after his death, it was completed by his widow, Harkunwar. The temple is estimated to have cost about 10 lakh rupees at the time, now equivalent to approximately 75 crores.
Even on the outside, the temple complex is very intricately carved in the Gujarati-Maru style, with lots of carvings of deities, musicians, dancers and so on. To enter the temple, you have to take off your shoes and leave them on the racks outside. Inside the main shrine, even photography is not allowed. The temple building has profuse carving all over and a striking floor of inlay work in various colours. Small shrines with heavily gilded and bejewelled statues of the Jain tirthankars stand inside the main temple as well as in the corridors surrounding the courtyard in which the temple building stands.
Worth a visit, because the carving is so impressive.

We were awestruck by this temple, the carving is sublime! We went Saturday morning and enjoyed listening to the temple music. It was really peaceful and calm. You can take lovely photos outside but inside just enjoy the experience, no cameras allowed.

Very serene place, a must visit when in Ahmedabad. We went in the morning around 9am and enjoyed being there. Sat down for a while on the chairs kept in the main temple while chanting was going on and it felt really good. The carvings in the temple are also very appreciable.
Few tips: This place is not very crowded. There is parking available in the temple complex itself and also there is place to keep your shoes just outside the temple. No strict dress cide, just don't wear very revealing clothes.

A couple of days ago, while visiting the city, the guide made us stop here too. I was wearing shorts but I was temporarily given a dhoti to wear when entering. Photography is prohibited inside the temple, even with a cell phone. The Jain temple was built in the mid-nineteenth century, but it is one of those timeless monuments of rare beauty. It is very rich in details that are worth observing carefully, such as the sequence of statues of goddesses, each of which plays a different musical instrument. It is impossible for those who do not have an eye accustomed to this architecture, to even approximately date the monuments as This.

Loved the temple architecture which was pretty ornate and beautiful...worth a visit!
P.S. Entry in minimals/ shorts/body exposing clothes not allowed. They had to give me a dhoti to cover my legs as I was wearing shorts!

This temple has been in use since it was built in 1840's, the architecture seems timeless, the details of the carvings and the walls of the temple are amazing.
There was a service going during our visit, we sat down and took it all in, the hymns, the music and the environment was very calming for me.
Need to dress well, temples in India will not let you in with shorts, or skimpy tops, carry a shawl to cover your upper body for ladies, that is acceptable. These are places of worship for the locals. Ask the staff, if you are in shorts or an open top, to give you a sheet to cover yourself, to look dignified to enter, your trip will not go in vain.
Entrance is free, there is a donation box, I did leave a small gesture tip to show my appreciation of my visit.

Approximately how long should we allow to visit the temple and see it all ? Thank you
Skrevet 13. september 2019
30 min if you just want to walk through. An hour if you really want to look at the buildings and detail put into them.
