The magical and enchanting Pangong Tso mesmerised me completely. The blue colour of the lake was just bewitching and invoked a peacefulness in me that I had never experienced.

Travelogue diary Leh to Pangong Tso
Our day started at 8.30 am with Shahid our Travel guide cum driver from Leh taking us through this magnificent journey today.
The mountains spewed rivers of stones from their gleaming icecaps to the valley. The rocks were mother nature's pallette in hues of beautiful dark to light black, brown, grey, blue and white stones. They were an artist's delight.
The roads were cut horizontally from the base to the top of the mountain. My panic mode set in when I glanced down and my fear of heights kicked in. However, it passed as we went downhill.
The view of the amazing lake was a beauty to behold.
The waters were icy, crystal clear and gleaming from the reflection of the sun.
It's a no litter zone, and non residential to keep its ecosystem clean.
The Bollywood movie 3 Idiots was filmed here.
The lake spans through India and China controlled Tibet which is about 70% of the lake.
It's approximately 130km long and freezes in winter.
A definite bucket list wonder to see.
Nature in its natural environment unspoiled by development.
Shahid can be contacted directly for tours to Nubra, Leh and Pangong on

Pangong Lake is a mesmerizing and unforgettable destination that feels like a hidden gem in the Himalayas. At around 14,270 feet, the lake’s clear blue waters shift colors throughout the day, creating a surreal scene against the backdrop of rugged, brown mountains. The journey to Pangong is an adventure in itself, winding through steep mountain passes and offering glimpses of Ladakh’s stunning landscapes.

A beautiful lake at 4,300 meters.
The blue of the sky is also dark blue due to the high altitude.
Some of it is dirty because it discharges wastewater from the lakeside Speciality Lodging.
I stayed in a Guest house, but even in September it was very cold and I couldn't sleep without using a sleeping bag while lying on my bed.
It is summer locally, so there is no heating.

I had come to Pangong lake straight from Nubra valley as the road which usually get closed in mid of June due to melting of snow from mountains come down in form of rivers.. when I passed from there on 3rd July it had already started but not in full swing..so was lucky enough 😊
Other wise I had to go back to Leh through khardungla pass and next day had to plan for the Pangong lake journey which would have been ten hours long.
After reaching there I was speech less it seemed as magic happening in front of your eyes. If it is a clear sky and sun is out then the shades of lakes is out of this world.
Had little three ediots moment also 😋😋
But it is worth going..

Our recent trip to Ladakh was an experience of a lifetime, made truly exceptional by our amazing guide, Wajid. We were a group of six couples, ready for an adventure, and Wajid made sure every single day was filled with unforgettable moments. From the very start, Wajid’s warm welcome and caring nature made us feel completely at ease. He was not just a guide but a friend who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and enjoyment. His knowledge of Ladakh’s rich history, culture, and landscapes was unparalleled, and he shared it with such passion that we felt deeply connected to this beautiful region.
The entire journey was incredibly comfortable, thanks to Wajid's meticulous planning. He provided us with a spacious, clean, and very comfortable car that made the long drives across Ladakh’s rugged terrain feel smooth and relaxing. One of the most thrilling parts of our adventure was the bike ride from Leh to Pangong Lake. Wajid arranged for us to have the best bikes, which were perfectly suited for the terrain. Riding through the breathtaking mountain roads with stunning views all around was exhilarating. His careful attention to detail and our safety ensured that we had an amazing time exploring Ladakh’s stunning landscapes.
Ladakh itself is a paradise, and with Wajid's guidance, we were able to experience its true beauty. The majestic mountains, serene valleys, and the surreal turquoise waters of Pangong Lake left us in awe. He also made sure we tasted the best local cuisine. Each meal was an exciting discovery, from delicious traditional dishes to comforting foods that felt like home. Our hotel accommodations were thoughtfully chosen, providing us with a perfect blend of local charm, comfort, and stunning views.
We couldn’t have asked for a better guide than Wajid, who made our seven days in Ladakh so memorable. His commitment to making our trip extraordinary was evident in everything he did, from planning our itinerary to sharing his deep love for his homeland. We highly recommend Wajid to anyone planning a trip to Ladakh. His genuine care and attention to detail will ensure you have an unforgettable experience. If you're looking for a guide who truly cares about making your journey special, Wajid is the one. For an extraordinary adventure in Ladakh, contact Wajid at 7006333454. You won’t regre

Pangong Tso (Lake) is a beautiful place to visit in Ladakh. You can feel lake more scenic when sky is blue. The surrounding view of mountains are tremendous. My sincere request to all the tourists to keep this place neat and clean. Government should also think to make some strict guidelines to maintain the beauty of this place.

April to September is flooded with tourists n the taxi rates are high too. In rest of the months, the lake is frozen n all the shacks there are closed too. If you are ok with frozen lake n making a day trip then March or October is good too
