Did not find any birds ... It seems they come only in March.. Searched in the evening hours... And even in the morning hours... nothing... waste of money.. waste of petrol... i think it is best not to go ...

Birds are the family creatures
nov. 2018 • Venner
You will love this place not only for migratory birds but also for a complete story of life span of birds and their caring attitudes which can be a lesson for all. You will find how tirelessly these creature work for making, decorating, designing their nests and taking care of chicks by untiring efforts and coming every year to the same place . Very good story in front of you to get it narrated to children and observe the discipline being exhibited by these soft winged creatures which always give me moral support to behave as a family man and experience nature.

Fly Home

This is one of the place where villagers take care of migratory birds who come here for hatching. There is natural bond among the people and birds as we have also seen in Rajasthan but this place a bit more interesting due to its close vicinity with Bangalore. Madder is the place, famous for is eateries, from where you take diversions from Mysore road. Pack yours lunch and enjoy this place . Be careful while seeing the birds from below as often they fall from trees due to reasons not known to me. More over take care of dropping of the birds while eating

Off the beaten path
des. 2017 • Familie
This is actually a village where many birds come and nest in....its not a bird sanctuary like Ranganathittu. so no comparison. Quiet and off the beaten path. Look at the tree tops and there they are nesting and flying around. Good if you like to observe the birds and their young ones. We took a short trip around the government school and had some fun with the primary school children. My son loved playing with the goats and cows in the village. We spent 1.5hours here. It was not what I'd expected but interesting & enjoyable!

The water bird paradise
okt. 2017
This place is a heaven for water birds and for the people who love birds . The ample water bodies and the local efforts have maintained this place . Thousands of water birds can be sighted here . The location is excellent - not too far from Bangalore on the way to Mysore . There is no decent place to stay there or to eat here . You may select a place nearby . The local people are very helpful .

Kokkarebellur is a small village. Known for the visit of birds. One can have a good and close view of all the birds. People are very informative and supportive. Kokkarebellur doesn't have hotels or lodges. No place to stay.

Its not only about the Pelicans!!
nov. 2017 • Familie
This village, kokkarebellur, is famous because it's where you can see pelicans in large numbers.. I was personally amazed to see pelicans on a tree.. in large numbers.. also it is the first time I have seen a baa baa black sheep..

We went from Bangalore.. it's an hour's drive.. Once you reach the village, park ur car somewhere and walk to the nature interpretation centre. The bonding among the village-pelicans is explained in boards here.. this centre also has a play area for the kids.. We went with kids and they enjoyed walking along the village to see the cows, sheep, goats, pups.. and also played to their hearts content in the kid slide.. It's more of a place to go as families with kids unless you are a nature lover..

You should have the famous "Madhur vada" on the way.. From Bangalore to kokkarebellur.. you will cross chanapatna which is famous for wooden toys/Bangles/etc if you are a shopper!!..

Humans and Birds living in peace !
mar. 2017 • Venner
Kokkare Bellur is a small hamlet 15 kms off Bangalore - Mysore highway 12 kms before Maddur. Like all villages in Mandya it has a few trees all clustered together around which the village has grown. As the village grew so did the visitors arriving from thousands of kms from far off countries. The lovely and colourful visitors are none other than the pelicans which arrive here every year around the month of November and stay here upto early June and fly back to their second home with the new addition to their families. The villagers and the birds seem to accept each other as a part of life and are doing great. The road to the village is really good. Visitors will have to have their own vehicles to make the visit easy and pleasant. Just drive down at your convenience, preferably early in the morning, after having breakfast either in Bidadi or Maddur depending on from where you are arriving and park the vehicle at the entrance of the village. Walk around the village enjoying the beautiful birds in their natural surroundings.you will love it.

Much more than storks!
mai 2016 • Familie
Bird lovers' paradise. Though the name emanated from the storks, there's a large flock of other birds visiting this water body as well. All in all, for a couple of hours drive to rural area, a nice family day out.
