शानिवर्वाडा is a major tourist site of Pune. It was built by the Peshwa Bajirao Pratham. Because of the foundation on Saturday, people named it شانیوروادا. An interesting coincidence is that it was inaugurated also on Saturday. Shānivādā is also included in the list of the country's most mysterious and scary castles. Before, local people used to avoid going here after evening, but now that's not the case.

Unfortunately, almost nothing remains following a fire in the mid-19th century. Except for the interesting history of the site
It was a fortress in the 18th century of the Peshwa dynasty.
The fortress served as a central headquarters and could house more than 1000 people
On the 1st (but very high steps...) we have a view of the grandiosity of what it must have been. We can see some paintings and carved wood. Nothing more

We had heard a lot about Shaniwada, the Palace cum Fort of Peshwas, who used be the Prime Ministers of Sjivaji dynasty and so we planned to visit it. It was the seat of Maratha empire in 18th century. It is said that Bajirao Peshawa, the most famous and powerful Prime Minister, who died in 1740 at a young age of 40 years, started building a seven story Palace/fort at this site in Pune using stones that was a common practice those days. However, some of the knights of Maratha empire at Satara (the capital of Shahuji empire) poisoned the ears of emperor Shahuji saying stone structure could only be built by king and so Peshwa was asked to stop the costruction. As the base floor had already been constructed from stones, Peshwa constructed the upper floors from bricks leaving the ground floor of stone and completed it in 1732 AD. Later in 1812, British forces attacked the Palace with artillery and all the top floors made from Bricks collapsed leaving only the front gate and its surrounding structure, its evidence can be seen even now. A story going around is that one of the Peshwas was killed by his uncle and aunt and he shouted for help saying (Save me Uncle). These shoults are known to be still heard in the ruins of Shaniwar Wada and so thsi place is known to be haunted and people avoid going there in nights. There is not much to talk about the fort because only the base floor made of stones and a huge gate can be seen without any other historical items inside the large court yard that might have been a palace. The site is not worth a visit as there is no parking, no toilets and the approach to Wada is through crowded and narrow roads. The entry is through a nominally priced ticket.

The garden was so vast and amazing. The palace itself had great views and a walking track around its top but most was blocked off. It's a great place to visit to experience some Maratha Empire history.

Went there recently. Place is photogenic. Rs 25 per head was taken as ticket which seems higher if compared to the facilities and maintenance exist inside. Anyways One can walk around by imaging the then situation and statement marked by archeology dept. However It is undigestable that a 7 floor building made within 2 years and majorly built by stone, was finished due to the fire 🔥. We all know this is not the truth.
Archeology dept should also mention when and who had destroy this monuments. Plotting lies into the public domain is a sin. The same issue is also with ellora caves.

Had a guided tour of Shaniwar wada this morning. Randhir Naidu (9130641707) conducts such heritage walks every weekend in and around Pune.
He painstakingly explained the entire history of the wada, the Peshwas and the Marathas and showed all the relevant historical parts of Shaniwar Wada. It was a wonderful experience and I've decided to sign up for more such tours in the near future.

This review is mainly for the light and sound show on every day basis - I attended one of such light and sound show @ 7:00 pm in the evening.

To start with the ticketing and the entry both are far away places and seniors will have to first take care of this,
There is no concession for senior citizens.
The entry to seating arrangements venue is quite at a distance very few guidelines are provided towards reaching the seating open air venue.
The show starts with too much of noice or loud sounds which can be reduced since the throw of the sound required is very limited however the pmpo used is very high.
The source of light disturbs the total attention of the screen the visual appears in the water fountain which is very poor and because of the light it further maars the quality of the show.
The contents of the show also is very poor and certain stress points are ignored altogether, instead less important points of the love affair of Bajirao and Mastani are unnecessarily put in details.
The viewing galary being in open has plenty of mosquitos and since the show is in the evening time after the sun-set you get caught in the mosquitos and the visuals which are not interesting.
Suggest better display of the show with all new creations.and better arrangements to avoid mosquitos.
