The Garden of Mandore is located to the north of the city. Accessible by tuktuk, taxi or bus. Entrance costs 25 INR per person, which is very cheap.

The site includes a wall of heroes and deities, sculptures dug directly into the rock and now protected by glass. The cenotaphs are very beautiful and very well preserved. They look like small Hindu temples but they are not. You still have to take off your shoes to go inside, as a sign of respect.

At the bottom, there is an old palace (Janana palace) where a museum is currently located. Just ahead, a tower on the right with openwork windows and delicate sculpture work. At the very bottom, once you have passed the row of ponds, a path provides access, via a steep slope, to the ruins of a fort. The view is clear and you can see the city in the distance.

The garden, overall, is in average condition. There are efforts being made to try to maintain the place but there is so much to do! Rubbish everywhere litters the ground and the pools. The water is brackish, dirty. The people who frequent the place are quite insistent, between selfies, photos, questions and even mockery.

This place, shunned by tourists, has potential but unfortunately, there is a long way to go before the place is in a satisfactory state. Allow between 1 hour and 2 hours if you decide to go to this garden, which is not essential.

Mandore, situated roughly 8 kilometers north of Jodhpur, was once the capital of the Marwar Maharajas. Today, Mandore is a popular tourist destination known for its sprawling Mandore Gardens, featuring high rock terraces.
Within the gardens lie unique dewals, or cenotaphs, dedicated to Jodhpur's past rulers. Unlike the typical chhatri-shaped cenotaphs found throughout Rajasthan, these impressive structures resemble Hindu temples. Built from red sandstone, they stand four stories tall with elegant spires and finely crafted columns.
The most magnificent dewal belongs to Maharaja Ajit Singh. These cenotaphs are beautifully integrated within the landscaped gardens, with the Maharani's cenotaphs positioned on a rocky outcrop overlooking the hills.

Beautiful gardens to visit when the sun is about the set as it lights up the cenotapes.
The gardens could do with better upkeep as there are areas left with water stagnantion and wild growth. We paid a local guide to give us a short talk as we visited around the gardens.

As much picturesque as this place is, the lack of maintenance of this place makes it a huge disappointment. I don't know which authority has the onus of managing this place - they have let it become a terrible place to visit. There is trash everywhere, pee smell and pee marks on the rocks, poops - dog poop, money poop etc. not cleaned - to think of the fact that it is one of the prime tourist attractions of Jodhpur, and Jodhpur being one of the topmost tourist places in India, I think everyone who is part of the authority of managing this place should be fired. We had to navigate to the sunset point by making sure we don't step on a poop, and of course hundreds of plastic bottles, trash etc. thrown around you! How India (whoever is responsible) can let such a monumental beauty degenerate to such a pathetic trashy place just leaves me aghast!!

Nice, quiet place to relax after the busy city of Jodhpur. The museum was nice to see, and the cenotaphes were beautiful. The train in the garden was a bit stupid since it only stopped at the Temple and museum and not at the cenotaphes... so We had to walk back again! Some places were not so well maintained...

Visited the Garden in the evening. The Garden is situated slightly at the outskirt of the city. There was an entry fee of Rs. 30 including Light & Sound show. The garden premises is quite expansive and reasonably maintained. There is a toy train for a small ride through the garden. The garden complex houses couple of pretty cenotaphs and ancient temples. The evening light & sound show depicting the ancient history of Mandore was quite interesting. Overall, reasonably well time spent in the evening.

Some interesting cenotaphs but nothing else to see or do. Like a lot of India, it looks like they started a lot of good stuff then ran out of money to finish or maintain it.

Only 25₹ entry so if you're desperate for something to do...

This is a place you should see during the evening. Possibly get in time to see the sun go down. The monuments here are well lit, and hence you get some good visuals whilst it’s dark too. The fountains and their lighting could have been a little subtle, instead of the light colours blaring out, but it’s something you can overlook. The high point of Mandore is the sound and light show which starts at 6:30 pm everyday. I have seen quite a few of these shows, but this one was spectacular. The way they have projected moving images on the structures there is quite fascinating. The place comes alive with the colours projected on the spires. Definitely worth a visit.
