A must for all if you are in Ooty, though the water is not so clean as it’s a man made lake,but it’s still enjoyable to take a boat ride, plus there are plenty of activities to keep all ages engaged

We took photos at Ooty Lake and then we went boating. The lake was very beautiful. It have mini train 🚆 in the garden 😀. Canteen and pony ride in front boat house 🏠 . 7D cinema 🎥 Horrors and Mirrors🪞 House 🏠 cost Dashing car 🚗 Break dance 💃 and Columbus.

was a bit crowded. It would have been much better if the people working or owning shops over there maintained some hygiene and asked people to maintain some hygiene there. They threw litter anywhere they felt like, and no one working around bothered to clean the area. There are too many kids around who come with their families, so families could pay attention to their kids and not let them litter.
The lake? It’s beautiful. So whoever is visiting there, please do not throw litter around and let nature be clean.
Even the government can be strict with people working around it and ask them to maintain it properly.
The beautiful lake is in pathetic condition. It feels sad to see it that way.

Very congested place very hard to find a parking. Lake is nice to visit in the evenings or in the morning .

I don't recommend to go this place as nothing is organized and the staffs are there to take money from you if you get lil late and even because of their issue

The lake once very beautiful has lost its glory due to bad water and foul smelling. The entrance is not well managed and crowded. Problem of parking also arise. The lake requires cleaning and proper maintenance so that tourists can really enjoy.

We went there for two days, on a Sunday and a Monday. Both days the lake was extremely crowded. The wait time for the boats were more than an hour even on Monday. There were so many people all around that relaxation is the last thing we could think of when we went there. The place looked less like a lake and more like a fair with numerous activities and all....good for families with kids but not for couples looking for some peaceful time. The entire place was full of rides and games of different types....it gave me a mini amusement park of feeling. But what it lacked was a peaceful corner from where one could enjoy the view.

This is an artificial lake created by the British in 1824. The original plan was to create a large body of water for fishery. During the early 1970s the government of Tamil Nadu decided to develop the downsized lake for boating and other tourist attractions like a small train circuit.
I missed an option for hiking around the lake or even to the lake. The lake area closest to town is fenced. Only between the boathouse and the train stop there is an option to reach the lake shore on foot.
Perhaps it is time for a new vision including reestablishment of original vegetation or at least reduce the number of Australian eucalyptus groves and encouraging people to become more active instead of only being consumers of a tourist product you have to buy.

Honestly speaking I loved Ooty in may end during the monsoon. The greenery and beauty in the crisp Fresh air is unmatched. Heavenly flowers and emerald green every where. Although January is a nip in the air and the cold temperatures makes you long for more time here. A real hill station 👌

First day you cover Doddabetta and tea factory in the morning and in the afternoon you go to lake. Next day first half you spend in Botanical garden.
You may Skip rose garden as this attraction is somewhat covered by Botanical garden.
The peak of attraction (Not to be missed) is Toy train, which is there in your itinerary there. No worries and have a wonderful trip ahead

Excellent weather right now. I would prefer to do in a relaxed manner. Definitely ensure you take up the toy train. It's an experience in itself.
Depending on your interests you can do various points but I would definitely skip Ooty lake, it's overcrowded, stinking and freakingly expensive.

The weather is rainy at least for the next 1 week. However, it doesn't rain all day. So it will still be pleasant. I recently for a 3 day visit to Ooty and while it rained all 3 days, it still was great. You want th clouds to be there and that cover up the mountains and make the view even better. There was sunshine here and there in between but it was still worth it.

Better to hire taxi the price will be between 1200 rs to 1500 Rs for 5 to 6 hrs.
One day you can hire for Ooty ( doddabetta, lake, botanical garden,rose garden,tea factory) 10 am to 4 pm
One day Paykara side it's more beautiful you can visit fine forest,6th mile,9th mile,Paykara lake, fall's etc.(1200-1400 rs)
May be if have less time both can covered in one day also (2200 -2500rs)
