As soon as I arrived at the Varanasi station I booked a cab and the driver came to pick me up. He convinced me to take a nearby hotel with good facilities ( Obviously they will get commission for bringing people) and as I didn't prepaid for any accommodation initially. I thought of giving a change by taking a hotel nearby. Guess what.... that was the worst hotel I ever stayed. I could've given extra 10% or same price for a branded 3 star hotel in fact. So it was a lesson not to listen anything from the people around which involve money . Just because their intentions are just to drink the money from you without any hesitation. Surprisingly the cab driver which I booked for airport drop was keep on telling me about his family struggles and hoping to get some tips. If they deserved to rewarded ofcourse the traveller will do that. But this kind of behaviour give a huge black point for them. So the lesson is that when ever we paln for something plan it properly and well. Even if its little bit extra which might cost you, for easy going and value for what you pay. you make payment contact less book a service online with best service provider by considering other reviews as well. Especially for cab booking Ola and Uber will give you a general fare price . Rather then getting looted by some random taxi drivers who will tell you just give me anything as you are our guest and later they will ask you 3 time more fare as well as tips.

Evening view is even more attractive when sparkling with the light of lamps at Dashashwamedh Ghat the world-famous Ganga Aarti begins with the scent of sandalwood and the chanting of havan mantras.

Munindra Tripathi was/is a very pleasant trustworthy person and a very knowledgeable guide. I got to look around all the tiny winding streets of the old city, I got to see some very old temples and I I had a really pleasant ride up and down the famous Ganga. Mostly I enjoyed talking to Munindra because he really does have a wealth of information about Varanasi both past and present - and his English is very good...

One must visit the ghats especially during the evening time & spend some time there...u can take a boat ride also...watch ganga aarti during the evening is a must...really its a totally different experience & aura...The ghats have so much to offer that sitting there idly & watching the various activities , one can spend hours there

My wife and I visited Varanasi for 4 days and it was obvious after the first day that without a guide all we’d do was walk up and down the ghats and learn nothing.
Varanasi is a wonderful and fascinating city with a rich and complex story to tell and we were fortunate that we found Munindra of Banaras Walk to guide us and explain the secrets of the history of the worlds oldest inhabited city.
We did 2 walks and 2 river trips with Munindra and all were excellent.
The evening boat trip to the Ganga Aarti is a must and with Munindras experience we saw it from both perspectives, the water and the ghat (with a great viewpoint!).
It would be difficult to pick a favourite walk they were both fascinating but if you’re going to do one the Alleys of the Northern Bazaar would probably be best. Munindra showed us underground Muslim temples hidden from the Hindus and Hindu temples built inside houses hidden from the Muslims, we relaxed in a tiny silk shop unchanged for 400 years since the days of the Silk Route and drunk chai in the oldest tea shop in Varanasi.
We’d have missed all of that and more were it not for Munindra, he showed us Varanasi with knowledge and humour and professionalism and love for his city and We can’t recommend him and Banaras -Walk highly enough .

Our stay in Varanasi was extra special with our lovely guide Munindra. He has explained all the ins and outs of this very holy city!
In case you are a bit hesitant to explore this city due to the cremations, after he takes you under his wing you won't be.
We were very blessed to meet Munindra and are still stayin in contact.

Walking along ghats from early morning to late evening , galis (lanes) with camera and zoom lens was a memorable experience. Frames were created off and on. Remain ready was important. Moreover, intuition of creation scenes was crucial.

Though I have visited Banaras numerous times before , this was the most memorable stay in Banaras. Thanks to Banaras walk ; Munindra Tripathi ; I witnessed places and stories I haave never heard of .Munindra Tripathi was warm and ensured about my safety and i was well taken care of .I was deeply enlightened during my trip to Banaras.Strongly recommend Banaras walk if you are visiting to banaras anytime .

Sher schoene Fuehrung mit "muni". Schoene erklaert. Sogar bei dem freien Tag wurden wir mit Infos versorgt. Somit koennten wir den einzige Tourist in den Altstadt verbringen. Es war sehr interressant und spannend.

Thanks for asking my suggestion.There are several hotels on the bank of river Ganga and also in the old part of the city.I would like to suggest some good hotels like Palace on Ganges,Ganges View,Brijrama Palace,R rashmi Guest House,Alka ,Ganpati Guest House,Suryauday Haveli etc. But you you have to book very quickly because on the day of Kartik Poornima thousands of tourist and pilgrim come to Varanasi.

Hi.. There are so many , it depends in which area you are statying..
If at Assi Ghat good hotels with Veg are POG , and Ganges View ..Nearby good veg restaurant is at Dumrao colony ...Angettyhee restaurant too .
If you staying in old city at Godolia Kesari restaurent open 8 AM to 10 -PM..
Rahil guest house is inexpensive at Rathyatra with good fresh food ..
