visited this pasar twice.the first time was many years ago,but that time just a quick browsing.this year, when i had my Nov-Dec trip to Bali,i decided to come here again.actually i heard that there is a new attraction spot called taman tukad korea. it is a river park between pasar kumbasari and pasar badung, you can see the river, like seoul’s Cheonggye cheon river park.but when i arrived here,i saw the river not clean, nothing special, very disappointed. the pasar itself is a good place for handicrafts. but this time,i still didn’t buy anything, cuz i bought some souvenirs before coming here. anyway, if you need to buy some bali handicrats.you should come here .always remember,in pasar, you must bargain with the seller to get a good price.

When I arrived there was no sign for a parking lot, so I parked my car on a big area. To explain, why I mention it: After returning in the afternoon suddenly a lot of other cars were standing around mine and a market was set. I had to hurry to escape before I couldn't move anywhere. About this there is no sign and nobody warns you. They take a parking fee, but for a car they don't have space everywhere.

We thought we would go to a local market to see what they had to offer, but we were dissappointed.
Irritating old women following us.
Rathing stick to the markets where tourists go 😜

We visited Pasar Kumbasari in February and I met a lovely lady selling 'antique' 'bronze' statues, to our amazement she remembered us when we returned in December. Trying to find the lady this second time we wandered a little around the market and I thought it worth returning when the sun was not so hot. So early January we arrived at 08:00 to find few stall holders had opened and little to eat that attracted us, so we went over to Pasar Badung to eat on the top floor (more on this later).
After eating we were quite impressed there were stalls selling all those trinkets you take back for family and friends, like soap on a wooden holder, mystery boxes with Buddha's head and vests with Bintang written on them. Just like in Krisna Oleh Oleh, but more exciting and half the price (despite every taxi driver in Bali telling you that Krisna is the cheapest place). I say more exciting but this is an Indonesian wholesale market, hot, smelly, narrow and chaotic, if this is not your thing stick to Krisna.
I found a shop selling metal statues, etc., in bulk to largely Chinese shopkeepers, which I was very impressed by and my wife an old man selling t-shirts and sarongs very cheaply.
I was feeling a little smug as an old hand in Indonesia that we had not been accosted by anyone offering to negotiate on our behalf as other reviewers have found, but recalled our first visit to Pasar Badung and our experience at 08:00 that morning. On our first visit a lady, whom we assumed to be a stall holder, took us to stalls selling sarungs and baju, but the prices were astronomical. I simply thought that Bali is now expensive and it is better that we buy such items at home in Java. Then that every morning a woman tried to befriend us and followed us up the stairs. Realising what was going on I told her to go away in Arabic, quite forcibly, albeit that one should not shout in Indonesia, and she did. Now you don't have to use Arabic just any language she doesn't know and therefore cannot use to start a conversation with you.
Let me explain anyone speaking English in Indonesia is within the top 30% and if their English is good then they are in the top 4%. Southern Bali is one of the most affluent parts of Indonesia, if there are poor people in southern Bali it is because Indonesia wants to have poor people.
This means that the middle class in Indonesia and especially in southern Bali have a much better lifestyle than the middle class in the west. I don't believe for one minute that this lady was acting independently, she was almost certainly recruited to 'bother' tourists and sharing her booty with a member of Indonesia's middle class. Maybe it's the security company watching the market, maybe the market's management, or possibly one of the many paramilitary groups who regulate social interactions in Indonesia.
But other reviewers are correct this private greed destroys a tourists enjoyment, which means that they which means they won't return to the market, maybe not to Denpasar, Bali or even Indonesia. But those taking the money don't care as long as they've got thier cut.

I will not visit Kumbasari Market again when visiting Bali. The stall holders need to form a collective to get rid of the locals who follow tourists and pretend to be part of the deal for a cut. These people are rude offensive and do nothing to help stallholders sell their produce to tourists. To be fair it is not a tourist market but I have never been followed persistently in any other country or in Indonesia. These people are either the local mafia or just a pain. Either way, I do not believe there will be any tourists wanting this treatment. Kumbasari Market you have a problem that you need to solve.

The market itself holds many interesting stalls selling tourist souvenirs, clothes, on 4 levels. The small stalls are squashed together and stuffy as you try to walk around. It was impossible to browse and look at everything without a stallholder or someone else trying to sell you, pester, interfere with our right to browse. We did purchase from 2 stalls and of course negotiated a fair price.I understand the need for people to attract tourists but feel they are doing themselves a disservice by being so pushy. We would have purchased more but lost patience with the "pushy people".

Kumbasari market is a good place for cost-effective art products. Located in a busy area, the three storied market also has cloth shops, groceries and other home needs.
