I went for a U.S. memorial day event, but came away impressed. A beautiful park in the middle of Busan with memorials to all the fallen heroes of the UN Command from the Korean war. Well worth a one hour stop.

This is a well kept and somber place that has a haunting sense of beauty to it. I went during the summer and it was extremely clean and manicured. It is a quiet place for those to remember the fallen soldiers from all of the countries that sent soldiers to Korea.

The UN Memorial Cemetery is a beautiful tribute to those who served and those who ultimately sacrificed their lives in the Korean War. The flags for each of the 22 nations who fought in the war, fly in the wind as reminders of the combined effort to bring an end to the Korean War. We happened to be there at the end of the day when the flag was taken down and folded during a somber ceremony that is repeated daily. I was very proud to see the precise movements of the Color Guard, yet also very moved to see the somber expressions on their faces as they held the flag in their gloved hands. Every movement showed respect. This is something I will always remember.
If you come to the Cemetery, be sure and look for the Daunt Waterway. This is a waterway named after the youngest soldier who fell at the age of 17. You are also able to enter the Chapel (near the entrance) and watch a documentary on the war. The gentleman inside will ask in which language you wish to hear the movie.
I highly recommend a visit to the UN Memorial Cemetery to pay tribute to the brave soldiers who fought in the Korean War.

Absolutely breathtaking place. As soon as you walk in you are welcomed to see a moving video about how the history of the Korean war unveiled and the amazing sacrifice of the thousands of men and women from as many as 16 countries came to merge right here in this place in honor of their ultimate sacrifice for freedom and justice.

The place is divided in several areas such as Memorial Service Hall (where we saw the video), Memorabilia Hall (you can buy there some interesting pieces), two Turkish Monuments, Greek Monument, Australian Monument, British Common Wealth Monument and two ample ponds.

The entire park area spreads across a grassy plain area of 135,000 square meters.

The citizens of Busan dedicated the Main Gate in 1966. There are many annual events held here such as April’s Tributary Ceremony of the Veterans of the Korean War, May’s American Memorial Day, June’s Korean Memorial Day, and October’s UN Ceremony Day and many more as we were informed.

In August 8 (1951), the South Korean government decided to donate the cemetery site to UN permanently at no cost, for UN Forces soldiers’ help & sacrifice.

We found the following information that perhaps can give y'all an idea of how many countries contributed to the effort of freedom and the cost in lives they spent for this cause. As follows:

From 1951 to 1954, approximately 11,000 bodies of UN Forces war dead were buried, and part of them returned home (all of Belgians, Colombians, Ethiopians, Greeks, Filipinos & Thais; most of Americans, some of Frenches & Norwegians).

Now here lie 2,300 bodies of soldiers: 281 Australians, 378 Canadians, 44 Frenches, 117 Hollanders, 34 New Zealanders, 1 Norwegian, 36 Koreans, 11 South Africans, 462 Turks, 885 British, 36 Americans, 4 unknown soldiers & 4 noncombatants.

A tombstone which records of the deceased are engraved on is placed at each graveyard, and also most of trees here are donated by various countries, institutions & individuals.

This is definitely A MUST SEE and we do recommend to spend and immerse yourself several hours here in this place. A place that will be an endless torch and memory of what good men united can do to free humanity from evil and injustice.

A truly blessed and peaceful place worthy of visiting. I suggest not to come with children as this is not a place to play and roam free in disarray. This is a place of respect, memory and honor to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

This beautiful, well maintained war cemetary was a tribute to all who had taken part and to those who had fallen during the Korean War. Very interesting information displayed what UN nations in this conflict.
While I was there in October a US Navy band were in attendance with Korean soldiers formally raising the UN flag, obviously commemorating a past military event.
I am ex military myself and found this to be a 'must' visit if you are in the area.
