We had just half a day on this day we arrived and I'm glad we did this museum first. Gave a good overview of how Jeju Island was formed, the history, culture, traditions so we can better appreciate the rest of the places we saw in the next 2 days.
Aside from the main exhibition hall, they also have one dedicated to the maritime history of the island and a special exhibition on the Haeyeon Women, which help fill the gap since we didn't make it to the Haeyeon Women Museum the next day.
I also like that the place is well lit and within the main exhibition area, there was a section where one can experience the lifestyle (sample clothes you can put on and a trick-eye photo wall too).

If you enjoy museums and have some time to spare, this museum is well done and worth an hour or two of your time.
My slightly out-dated tour book gave it a so-so review. The museum had been renovated since that book was written and proved much better than I expected. It's neither huge nor tiny - several rooms arranged around a central courtyard. Moving fairly steadily and not reading all placards, I spent a little over an hour at the museum. I remember the folklore exhibits being a little better than the natural history exhibits.
It's very close to the Samseonghyeol Shrine, so I would recommend visiting both sites at the same time, if your schedule permits.

민속 자연사 박물관으로 변경.
입장료 2000원.
제주의 자연사를 둘러보고 여러가지
설명을 들었다.
강추.
광해 특별전을 한다.
실리 외교와 대동법. 이렇게 폐위되지 않고 성군으로 마무리했다면,
지금 대한민국은 또 어떤 모습일지..
아쉽다.
대한민국 화이팅~

제주와 제주사람들에 대한 공부가 되는 곳이다. 아이들과 제주를 방문한다면 들려봐야할 곳. 특별전시도 테마를 바꾸어가면서 하는데 직원분들이 친절히 설명해주어서 좋았다.

특별한 유물을 기대하지만 않는다면 가족들과 한 번쯤 둘러봐도 좋을 것 같읍니다. 네비게이션마다 다르겠지만, 아직도 구 이정표대로 길안내를 하는 바람에 좀 헤매다 가긴 했읍니다. 국수거리와 함께 있으니 제주 국수 좋아하시는 분들이라면 더 좋을 듯..... 저는 제주 국수의 맛을 모르겠지만.

제주 국수거리 근처에 있음.
제주에 대하여 아이에게 더 자세히 설명해주려 방문.
공사중이라 무료관람. 대신 동선이 얽히는 부분 있음. 제주의 탄생, 민속 자료, 동식물자료 등 시간 보내기 좋음. 조금 더 크면 재방문하루의사 100%

I love the wallet-friendly admission prices to the Korean government's tourist attractions. Some are even free, come with English-speaking guides and/or tablets with headphones with information.
This one had info boards and cards but it was in a beautiful setting, a mini forest in the middle of surburbia.
The exhibits, including a short 3D film, tell the story of the mythical origins of settlement of Jeju built around some original artifacts.
You get to go close to exhibits and there's also an opportunity to dress in a scholar's robes for a photo in a study.
Staff are very helpful and friendly and the place is wheelchair friendly. It is easily accessed by public bus or taxi.

Three mysterious stone falls on the ground, resulting in 3 holes... from the holes rise three men... and in time, Jeju is born... Such folklore may only appear in books, but in Jeju, there are evidence of the same, preserved into a real interactive museum.. Remember to watch the 3D movie and visit the sakura during spring time.
