Worst experience ever. The instructor was unprofessional and after the jump, stayed away while I panicked. Stayed in water for just 2-3 minutes. No picture was taken. This is a scam. I wasted my money.

There are not many dive operations in Seogwipo and Big Blue33 has a dive guide who speaks enough English. The dive shop is small but pretty well-organized. They get their tanks from Bubble Tank just down the road as they do not have that set-up in their shop. Ki Bong Kim was our dive guide and he was very friendly and helpful. The diving there is interesting. You go out on fishing boats (which can be overcrowded and you may have to wait a bit before it's your turn) to Munson Island and the boat pulls up to the rocky ledge and you get off the boat onto the rocks by the water. So your surface intervals are on the rocks at the islands. It would be good if they brought a few snacks as your day can be longe than anticipated with waiting for fishing boats. But, they were organized, knowledgeable, friendly, and even shared some photos with us after our dives. I would recommend Ki Bong Kim and this company. Previous reviews mention Ralf, but I don't know if he's there anymore. Maybe this shop has switched ownership? We are glad we went diving, but there is a lot of other stuff to see on this island, so if you don't like the first day's diving, you might not get anything different on another day's diving.

My Husband and I have 100 dives under our belts and have dove all over the world and while this was a fun experience, we didn't have the desire to dive a second day with this shop. (Although to be clear, this is the only English speaking dive shop in Jeju I believe so...there's that.)
We arrived by cab about a half hour early (we were told to be there by 9am) and the shop wasn't open yet. Not a problem - we just hung out in front. When Ralf, the owner, drove up a few minutes later, he looked at us and said "You're early, we don't open until 9." Ummm...no "hi". No - "great to meet you." But okay, we just said "Oh, no worries, we're just hanging out" and he proceeded to go into the shop.
When he did open up he told us we could grab a seat and we did as others trickled in.
I will say that the shop was pretty organized in getting everyone squared away with rental gear and packing it into individual dive great bags. My Husband and I brought our own wetsuits (3 mils which were plenty warm enough for us in September) and masks, but decided to rent the rest of the stuff for this trip. When I tried on the BC Ralf had picked out for me he asked how it fit and I said I thought it was fine. His reply was "Well, it's the biggest one we have." My Husband and I are not small people (hence why we brought our own wetsuits) but I had already said it fit fine, I don't know why he felt the need to comment on how this BC was the biggest one they had. My Husband is larger too and they gave him a very basic BC - no cummerbund, just straps - but that was fine.
The gear was very average. Not falling apart but on the older side and certainly no bells and whistles. We were also given dive watches for a depth gage (although a regular gage for air). I found this annoying as it kept slipping off on my dive and I actually lost it coming out of the water (luckily another diver found it and gave it back to me). I just hooked it on to my BC for the second dive despite the eye roll and comment of "fine, if you don't want to be able to see it" from Ralf. (I could see it just fine.)
They don't have a dive boat and instead rent a fishing boat to load the gear onto and take you to a little island where you set up your gear. I think all the dive ops use these types of "charter" boats. The diving from the island was easier than I thought it would be and it climbing back onto it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be either.
We were split into two groups of four divers, half with Ralf (we dove with him) and half with Graham. The diving itself was so-so. About 20' visibility and some lovely purple and orange soft corals but no crazy sea-life. Just some normal colorful fish. The current was very strong and I personally felt that Ralf swam very fast. I struggled to keep up and felt that the pace of the dive was too fast. I had to concentrate more on keeping up than looking around.
I had trouble staying down the first dive due to being underweight and when I asked Ralf during the break if he still had those extra weights he said he did but he didn't think I was underweighted. (I'm experienced enough to know when I need more weight.) I disagreed and he gave me another kilo which did help on the second dive.
Luke warm hot dogs and water were offered during the break but neither Ralk nor Graham made much of an effort to socialize with the rest of us.
After the second dive, we packed our gear back up, got back onto the charter, and went back to the shop.
As a note - wear water sneakers if at all possible. I had flip flops on (as did Graham, the other dive master) and it was very slippery! I almost fell on the rocks so I got back on the boat in bare feet but since it was just a fishing boat, it had a bunch of bolts screwed into the deck where you had to hop back on and I slipped on them and had some bruising on my foot later that day that lasted for a few days.
Since tide had gone back out, we had to climb out of the ocean via a giant tire ladder but it's not as hard as it sounds.
Back at the shop, we all had to clean our own gear and store it away where they directed us to.
This was the most expensive dive trip I've actually been on ($130/pp USD, which included rental gear) but the least "luxurious" operation. I've never been asked to clean the rental gear myself when I've been traveling.
We went to lunch with another person from the dive afterwards and she also felt that the operation was a little less than welcoming.
In the end, while my Husband and I had the time to dive another day and could have booked another trip, we opted not to. The diving wasn't that great but the less than friendly attitude of the owner is what solidified our decision.

I went diving with Big Blue 33. They speak a lot of languages. The only international diving school in Jeju as far as I know. The equipment was great, we went with a little van to the harbour, caught a boat and went to a little island just 5 min off the harbour. Great diving sites. Saw a lot of fish, shrimp, squid and much more. Ralf and Graham are great guides and nice guys. They know a lot and tell you everything you need to know. There was lunch provided as well. I can truly recommend the center.

Ralf is a great instructor, try dive was very good with a lot of explanations that give you confidence. Great team very flexible who accommodate to the level of the divers: I was able to finish my tank alone with Graham after the others were finished and accompanied out of the water, and for the second dive I was able to dive with my gf who was on a try dive. Thanks!

Ralf is very professional and his instructor pretty fun.
You get the quintessence of the korean and German worlds: everything is under control, regulated, no surprises. The Scottish intructors brings - as expected - the fun touch.
The dive itself is not great and pretty crowded in this season but the lack of visibility, darkness, kelp and low temperature (16deg) in May add a little adventure that make it worth discovering.
Of course not on the top list of Asian dives if you are used to Palau, raja ampat and others.
I was stranded in jeju without a car for a weekend and I am glad I did that to take care of my Saturday.
You always meet interesting people anyways.
4/5 for the team
2/5 for the dive
I recommend to do it if you are already in jeju; not for a scuba trip though, unless you want to discover or pass a degree in diving with a serious team.

Baza nurkowa niedaleko portu. Obsługa na bardzo dobrym poziomie. Możliwość porozumiewania się w języku niemieckim i angielskim. Sprzęt do wynajęcia raczej starszy ale sprawny. Nurkowania starannie omówione, zaplanowane i przeprowadzone bardzo sprawnie i bezpiecznie. Polecam

We are traveling to Jeju in July. Are there good snorkeling spots there? Is the water temperature cool enough that we need a wetsuit?

Hi
You can definitely dive in July. It is the best time to dive in Jeju. If you don't have a diving certification then you can do discovery dives- meaning you only experience diving and don't have to do any tests like with an open water course.
With diving gear you are able to float underwater. Kicking your legs and moving your torso will help direct you (the instructor will also pull you if you are going to deep or in the wrong direction). If you panic while in water or under water then diving could be a bad experience for you. Big blue 33 has great english speakers to help you so I'd recommend diving with them. But if you can take some swimming lessons in your country before you go then everything will be great for you in Jeju.

My family is in Jeju now for only 3 days. My wife and 14 year old son are both certified and would like to dive. We are staying at the Lotte Resort. What do you have available?
