Had a fantastic time, sea turtles are well kept and protected. Loved the experience. Baby sea turtles are so cute, it's so nice to see and learn about the different types and ages of turtles."

Incredible Experience at the Sea Turtle Hatchery Center!
I had the most amazing visit to the Sea Turtle Hatchery Center! From start to finish, it was an unforgettable experience. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their work in conserving sea turtles, and you can really feel their dedication to protecting these beautiful creatures.
The tour was both educational and exciting. I learned so much about the different species of sea turtles, their nesting habits, and the challenges they face in the wild. Watching baby turtles being released into the ocean was a heartwarming moment, and it’s clear that the center is doing vital work to ensure their survival.
The facilities are well-maintained, and the entire experience feels very hands-on. It’s a great place for families, nature lovers, and anyone who cares about wildlife conservation. If you're in the area, I highly recommend a visit—you’ll not only have a great time, but you'll also be supporting a truly worthy cause. I can’t wait to go back!

I visited this place and the place was very peaceful and the people were friendly to share their knowledge. This is very close to Galle town which is very convenient to reach to. Visit now and experience the new adventure which awaits.

Hospitality is very bad even they don't know how to treat and how to talk foreigners specially one small lady is there. She need only money not explaining only less than 5 minutes abouth the turtles. Is ask some questions she speak like very badly

If you've not seen turtles up close then this is a good a place as any to see several different species and hear from the workers how they collect, hatch and release baby turtles, plus care for the injured ones. Doesn't take long but the money you donate goes a long way.

Support this small turtle sanctuary. Our visit was so interesting. A guided tour of the turtles and the hatchery, why they were in the sanctuary and the treatment they are receiving. The highlight was releasing 3 baby turtles into the sea, well worth the 5000LKR. This should definitely be on a ‘todo’ list rather than the larger tourist traps. Highly recommended it was great.

A wonderful rescue centre for sick and injured turtles, who are nursed back to health and returned to the ocean. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the turtles and explained what the centre is about and what they are doing for these lovely animals. All proceeds are ploughed straight back into the centre to buy medicine, food, equipment and turtle eggs from the fisherman. They have a hatchery there where they incubate the eggs producing baby turtles and then released en masse as and when. The best 5000 rupees I spent on holiday was here when my wife and I had the opportunity to chose 2 baby turtles where we carried them down to the beach and released into the ocean ourselves. We gave them names and wished them luck as they disappeared into the water. Please note that drivers will avoid bringing you to this centre purely because they are not paid a commission by them as the centre chooses to put every rupee back into helping the turtles. Insist on coming here and if your driver comes up with excuses to go elsewhere its because they are being paid a commission by them, often 50% of your entrance fee! This centre is doing good, support it.

Amazing experience we released two baby turtles into the wild o the beach!! Would high recommend? The team there do great work. Your driver may try to get you to go to another hatchery as these guys refuse to pay them commission (usually 50%!). They believe that all the money should go towards funding the hatchery, equipment and care for the turtles so please make sure you go and support!

We are hoping to be in Galle in a few days time, around 3/4 May. Would we be able to help release baby turtles back into the sea at this time or is it the wrong time of year?

Hello
I do not know when the turtles are released. Some were released the evening we arrived in February but I believe it is down to when the eggs hatch as there were a number buried in the sand at the farm.

In the morning and evening we feed for the turtles.in that time we put all the turtles in to one tank.when the visitors come at feed time we give chance to put turtles that tank gently only that time we allowed to pick gently. Other ,time we didn't allowed to pick them

The hatchery is on one level so a wheelchair is no problem but the toilet is pretty primitive, as are so many in Sri Lanka, so that might present a difficulty.

Hi yes tuk tuk is good way to get there. It is small and simple, we liked it and kids learnt a lot about the turtles and the efforts to save them. That night a giant turtle came up the beach and laid her eggs right in front of our villa! It was great to understand more about the turtles from our visit to the hatchery - and great to support them.
