The trip was well worth a visit, it was a wonderful experience being able to wash the elephant in the river, only for him to spray us with the water. Staff was very peasant.

We stayed in Bangkok and had the full day experience. We were picked up at 630am, returning back quite late around 6 or 630pm. Was so worth the drive out there for a wonderful experience with the elephants. We did the full day where we fed them pumpkins, made sticky rice for the old lady elephant with no teeth, washed in mud, then in the river. Also went out into the field to cut the cane for the elephants. Buffet lunch was included and beautiful food with lots of cold water.

We stayed overnight and it was a rich experience. Our guide, Mai, couldn’t do enough to make our stay comfortable and fun. Yes, there are some tourist photo ops, but overall it’s a humane place where the elephants are cared for. The accommodations for overnight are simple, but there was ac, a private bathroom, a mini fridge and mosquito netting. Don’t expect a hotel, but it’s clean and comfortable, and the after hours experiences of feeding the elephants at dusk and having that individual time with them was awesome. You also don’t have to make that long journey back to Bangkok after a long day out! The food there is very good too. Our family really enjoyed it.

People were Nice. However, the Elephants are still on a circuit suited to make the best picuture for big group of tourists. They do not have a choice in being lead around and are made to stay in the water or in a pose so tourists can wash them or to get their pictures taken. Even when the elephants want to get out, the mahout is there with a pulling his ears making it stay in the water. This is unethical and i went home with a big stone in my belly.

What an amazing experience! I must admit it felt quite scary at times, they are just so huge! But the opportunity to get up close an personal with these amazing creatures was a once in a lifetime experience.
A few comments on here talk about ethics, but my overall impression was that the elephants were happy and well cared for. These are rescued creatures and are not used for rides or anything like that.
The people running it were great and really looked after us.
One important point to note is that if you are staying in Thailand, it is a long journey. A good 6 hours in the car there and back. It’s a whole day trip.

Brilliant experience. The animals were looked after with huge amounts of care and love. Would 100% recommend this experience and @Mai was an amazing guide. Was totally impressed by him. Would urge everyone in the area to come and support this amazing sanctuary and have a life changing experience. Our teenagers loved every moment of it.

We booked a morning session and that was a very pleasant change of the day. You will face several experiences, from feeding elephants till washing them and concluded with a nice lunch. People were very friendly and for the kids it ended with swimming in the river. Would recommend to everyone and in my opinion much better than the safari park, which gave us the feeling the animals were abused for human pleasure.

Prachtig opgezet. Opvang voor olifanten waar de beesten goed worden verzorgd en er veel liefde is voor alles en iedereen. Zeker de moeite waard!

Informative afternoon with the handlers and elephants. Had great fun feeding them, then helping to wash them in the River Kwai. You don’t ride the animals which is great. They look after them here. We made rice balls for the old girls and got to see a pregnant elephant - the baby was moving around! Didn’t fancy helping them in the mud bath - especially when they used it for their toilet 😀

Are the elephants treated ethically here? I was interested in the mahout program but was also wondering as to why the elephants need a mahout in the first place if the whole point of freeing the elephants from slavery is to have them be themselves in the wild.

Many if it is rainy very hard we will not run the outdoor activities, however we will do the activities indoor, such as wash fruit for the elephants, prepare fruit basket and you will observe the elephants.

i actually booked a cab for the whole day. i am not aware if there are any other travel ways. i doubt you can use a bus or a train. i dint see any. its a bit away and out of the way

Good question and one that is not easy to answer. In general most places are open during Songkran because it is high season. But in Thailand anything can happen, It would be best to contact them directly.

Hi it is best to wear light clothing as very hot. Also have swimwear underneath as can go in a mud pool then swim in river with elephants. It's amazing
if i dont need transportation, can i come for less than 1 full day? do they have a program for 2-4 hr visit?
