Had the best stay, but lots of rubbish that wants rid of. Ton sai beach over crowded, better beach is Loh Dalum which is only a five minute walk from the Ton Sai Pier drop off. It’s picture perfect!
Very chilled, happy place, worth a visit!

Awesome place to visit. It feels like you have come to heavenly body. Their is a spirituality around it. Loved the tall mountains, green and blue water, calmness and quite a relaxing place.

This was the second time we have been to the Phi Phi Islands.
Our first stop is the truly stunning Maya Beach which was not open but we viewed from a distance. We were told that when it is open because of the number of people visiting it is single file along the beach. Not sure is this an exaggeration.
Our second stop at Phi Phi Don was a small inlet which was literally a boat “car park”. Speedboats are parked either against each other or within a few metres and people swim near their respective boats otherwise you get run over. There must have been over 100 vessels in an area a couple of hundred metres wide and perhaps 1km long.
While the limestone cliffs and scenery are beautiful, the experience is ruined by the massive crush of speed and long tail boats which have super noisy unmuffled engines. The water is not clear here, there is no coral and very few fish to see.
The other low-light of the trip is a one hour stop at Khai Island which is a small sandy island you could probably walk around in 20 minutes but has hundreds of umbrellas and seats for the multitude of tourists allowed on here at once. It also has many jet-skis available for hire further ruining the serenity in case you did want to park yourself on a seat among the masses.
If you are a foodie, expect very little from the buffet lunch unless you perhaps pay top dollar, the lunch we had was horrible. The best if a bad lot was KFC style chicken drumsticks without the herbs and spices.
On a more positive note the main snorkelling location did have a small variety of colourful fish and very clear water but limited coral diversity due to bleaching. It was certainly safe for swimming and good for kids.
I get that the economy relies so much on tourism especially post the pandemic but the experience is awful with the numbers they are letting in to these pristine areas.
If the crowds bother you, my suggestion is either get a private charter if you have the means, take the 5am tour to avoid the masses or try one if the other less populous tours that also show the natural beauty Thailand offers. You may also find that you don’t end up crammed into a boat like we were which was filled to its maximum 38 person capacity.

We took the 6:30am tour from phi phi and it was so amazing one of our most memorable experiences. We saw some baby reef sharks, lunch and water was provided and there were perfect timings for each location. Our tour guide was cocoloco (I think!) and he was fabulous! Would 100% recommend and do it again.

We stayed on phi phi for 3 days. We done an all day tour with Mo (he sells private boat tours out of the shed beside the Muslim cemetery, a few people do it but I recommend asking for him, he was brilliant, always smiling and super friendly) We got a phenomenal deal and got to do loads. He was kind, informative and really let us set our own pace, even taking us to a beautiful beach for lunch and telling us extra stories. We got to see all the bays/beaches/islands and snorkel spots. It really was a highlight of our trip and fantastic value for money. I wasn’t sure where else I could leave a review but we got it for 3000 baht for 3 of us, (2 adults, child aged 11) he offered this right off (and let us choose the time we wanted to leave) yet two minutes before we had been quoted above 7000.
Thank you for the most wonderful day and fantastic memories Mo! ❤️🇹🇭

Wow! What an amazing island. This certainly was a highlight of our trip! I would say it’s mainly for younger people because the e night life is insane. The fire shows are great, the alcohol is great! By the bloody bucket! Lots of shops during the day. We only spent a night there and hopefully will be returning in the future to thailmd and phi phi will be part of the trip again! I really wouldn’t give this island a miss. And definitely go for more than a night but allow recovery days after 😂

Be careful when visiting the monkeys. Don’t feed them or let them climb on you.. they can become aggressive and bite or scratch you, resulting in a doctor visit for a rabies vaccine. Definitely get travelers insurance! It will save you if something unexpected happens.
Hotels and restaurants discard their dirty water directly into the bay. If you want to swim travel away from the main bay and find a clean beach.
The views are amazing but to see them you need to walk a long distance in the hill.

Phi Phi Islands are beautiful and well worth visiting.
We did a days tour around the islands which was magical. Highly recommended.
Krabi town is definitely for the young at heart. We (late 50's) stayed there 3 days and think we must have been the eldest. People were friendly and helpful. A lot of hotels are set on mountain side and our hotel had 129 steps to the reception area and another 100 steps to our room. Great views but phew!!
Night time sounded like there was plenty of places to party!

This is a bucket list destination when in Thailand. Everything you read about the water and snorkeling and the beauty of the national park scenery is true but unfortunately this is contrasted once you set foot on Phi Phi Don island. Within 10 metres of the end of the pier is a McDonald's and Burger King which is jarring to find in the middle of the tropical ocean. You will also need to fight your way through the hordes of touts trying to sell boat trips and accommodation. Unfortunately the commercialisation of the island has meant that litter is a problem and the smell of fuel around the boat harbour was overwhelming. The island has everything you could possible need in a city just a shame that the environmental impact is irreversible.
Get through the village to find the back beach which is a lot more as you imagine an idyllic tropical island to be.
Don't be put off check it out as the opportunity to snorkel in crystal blue water over coral within 5 metres of a monkey on a rock is one I'll never forget.

Take a days trip from Krabi. We took the full day trip to PhiPhi via Seagull Tours from Krabi. Very well conducted day trip. These islands are simply bliss. Must visit while in Krabi and not to be missed. Turquoise blue waters, white sandy beaches just spell heaven.
