Hands down one of the best things I have ever done, from the moment Sameer picked us up, on the dot in the lobby, to the moment we were dropped off we were treated like royalty! Comfortable air conditioned 4x4 for the hours trip out to Mleiha.
Once we arrived we took a look around the centre which was incredibly interesting, we then had a quick coffee in the lovely cafe. We were then met by the resident expert who taught us all about fossils, including showing us a number that had been found nearby. We then got to create our own which was fun! After that we went across the sand dunes, not for the faint hearted or anyone that gets motion sick, but our 5 year old had the time of his life! We got to stop at multiple sites across the dunes to view the fossils in the rocks, including camel rock, we then watched the sun set from the top of the dunes which was magical. Back to the camp which we had all to ourselves! A delicious bbq, with traditional food and deserts, including soft drinks, tea and coffee.
We then got to view the stars through a state of the art telescope, we saw Saturn and Jupiter! I was blown away! Then for the camel ride, the most chilled camel in Dubai! All to ourselves! My little boy was over the moon! We also got to visit the horses and feed them, along with meeting the resident cats and their kitten. Then a chill out around the fire and some beetle hunting, we managed to find a scorpion while we were there too! Then back to the hotel for a decent time, arrived back at 9:30!
We will definitely be booking this excursion again next time we come. Thanks to everyone at Mleiha who made our visit extra special!

Wow! An unexpected treasure in the Sharjah desert. This incredible centre includes a comprehensive and well-thought out museum, several archaeological sites, and some really fun activities. On our short visit we started with a thoughtful and informative museum tour (I especially loved seeing the ancient jewellery, pottery, and stone carvings). Our guide, Omar, took time to really help us experience the rich history of the area, answering all our questions with great knowledge and passion.
Next up, we went dune bashing with Lucas. Wow! This was the perfect combination of exhilarating and scary. We giggled a lot, and definitely felt safe with this expert driver. We saw two extraordinary rock formations; it was mind blowing to see all the fossils of ancient sea creatures in the middle of the desert.
Our final treat was stargazing with Anurag. This was a huge highlight for me. I have always loved the moon, and to see it through the centre’s incredible telescope was so moving. We also saw an amazingly clear image of Saturn and one of its moons. Anurag was passionate, knowledgeable, and extremely kind. Even though the sky was a little hazy, he made sure we had an unforgettable experience.
We only had a short trip this time, but I definitely want to go back for the glamping next time!
If you visit Sharjah, don’t miss this awesome place, it is well worth your time.

Had friends over from UK, they had done lots of city tours and we wanted to show them the desert! Booked an hour trip for Dune Bashing with landscapes - it was on their words highlight of the holiday! Driver was amazing, couldn’t have done more for us! Health and safety was his top priority - when we got stuck on a dune he asked us to get out of the car, and he calmly and professionally got out of the dune! For us it just added to the highlight of the trip. We also inadvertently left a phone in the car, even though he asked us if we had everything- the company then arranged to have the phone dropped back to us in Dubai - above and beyond the call of duty!

Hey fellow adventurers! I've just returned from an unexpected treat at the Sunset Lounge by Mleiha Archaeological Centre. I'm fresh with excitement, so here's the lowdown for anyone curious:
The journey from Dubai was pretty simple – about an hour's drive. But be wary, there's this gravelly patch nearing the place, not a huge deal but better to know. It almost made me question, "Is this the right way?", but soon enough, there was the site, awaiting our arrival just as the sun began its descent.
I booked this on a whim, which was quite the escapade. Their site said "no availability", but a quick call sorted it out. Super thankful for that accommodating chat. And for 90 AED per adult (kids were on the house), it was a steal, considering we were the only ones there! Purely VIP vibes.
Now, if you're imagining a quiet desert sunset, you're half right. First surprise – a camel ride from the gate! My family and I were ecstatic, more so because it was unexpected. The staff? Oh, they treated us like royalty. From the way they greeted us, I half expected them to roll out a red carpet.
Night fell, and then came the real magic. An astronomer with his high-tech telescope gave us a tour of the sky. First time I've ever peeked at planets through one of those, and boy, was it enlightening!
The campsite was decked out in lights with a cozy feel, drinks on standby, and enough space for a sizable gathering. Major plus? Spotless AC-equipped toilets in the middle of the desert. Talk about luxury!
Now, while I’m pouring my heart out praising the place, my head tells me to be honest about the little gravelly patch and the last-minute booking drama. But, that’s just being nitpicky.
All in all? I urge you to experience this desert oasis for yourself. It’s the perfect setting to unwind, and offers something for everyone – from camels to constellations. My fam's already talking about a next visit.

We joined the Perseids meteor shower event, and it was amazing! My kids had so much fun and they will always remember this experience as part of their memories growing up. I was 6 years old (same age as my daughter) and my sister was 12 (same age as my son) when my parents took us to see Halley's Comet in 1986 in Boston, MA. I will never forget that experience, and I wanted my kids to have something similar to look back on.
Mleiha organized the event very well. The parking, the setup, the clean bathrooms, the quizzes, the telescopes, and the presentation made all the difference. Kudos to all the staff, especially Jackie who treated us really well!

We spent half a day at Mleiha enjoying the hospitality of the Mleiha Archaeological Centre. This was one of the best activities we have experienced in the UAE and was meticulously planned and executed by the team. During the booking process we were looked after extremely well by Jacquiline, who put together our activities. We opted for an archaeology tour followed by the Perseids meteor event. We had transfer by SUV from Dubai and Lucas did a great job getting us there safely. After a very tasty lunch in the centre, we had a ~ 2 hour tour of the centre's exhibits, as well as visiting three sites outside. Our guide Ivan was full of very interesting information and we learned a great deal about the importance of Mleiha. The Perseids event was outstanding. We had very comfortable seating, an interesting and entertaining presentation from the astronomers, a delicious meal and many hours of great meteor watching. We left thoroughly satisfied and happy and were transferred back to Dubai by Nehar. A highly recommended experience. We look forward to our next opportunity to visit.

Happened to attend the Perseids meteor shower on 12th August 2023 with Mleiha Archaeological centre, Sharjah.
It was an wonderful experience with impressive arrangements for watching the meteors, car parking and wash rooms. The dinner was commendable and light. The lecture about stars, galaxies, universe and constellations was fantastic... Appreciate the efforts taken by the team!! Special mention to the educators Mr. Nirmal and Mr. Prabhu for their excellent presentation and quiz. Planets and star show through telescopes were well explained by Ushani and Jhen...
A soothing relaxing music added special effects to the show!! Finally, very much excited to watch those meteors flying around..
Thankyou guys! Overall, a delightful experience!

What a magnificent event in the desert last night - under the starry skies we were all nature.
Only sands and stars, planets and sands...
I'd like to bring to management attention the high level of professionalism of the whole team - Jacky, who coordinated this event worked smoothly with Nirmal and Prabhu from Education division. They made our evening.
On a separate note I'd like to say that the quality of food was superb - everything was fresh and simply delicious: I loved the chicken burger with vegetables and cold hibiscus tea.
The service was smooth, there were no long lines or waiting time at all. Everything was there for us to relax.
I Highly recommend to try this unique experience - great for the entire family and friends gatherings! I bet you'll come back again and again!!!

You will need to arrange a ride. When I was there it was empty at the end of the tour, so no taxis around. They offer it as additional cost. Note I drove myself.

There are fees for entrance into the museum which is AED 25 per person. There are a variety of different activities that you can do, from trekking to stargazing with experts to dune drives up to fossil rock and even overnight camping! We can take walk in bookings although an advance booking is generally recommended to avoid disappointment. You can call or email us to book in advance for any activity you like and pay when you get there.
