The CUPNOODLES Museum Yokohama is super neat. Not only did we learn the history of instant ramen and the creator, we got to create our own completely original CUPNOODLES (for ¥500 each). We got to design the cup, select our favorite soup from four flavours, and select four toppings from among 12 varieties.
There are a number of other fun and quirky exhibits for adults and children, including NOODLES BAZAAR, a food "night market" featuring eight different noodle stands from eight different countries! The gift shop has some cute novelty items that make great souvenirs too.

The Cup Noodles museum is a short walk across the river from the train station, and you can buy your tickets there or get them online. The DIY noodles experience is timed but they fit a ton of people in the room. The ramen making has to be booked ahead because it sells out. The whole museum is about Momofuku and his development of the cup noodles, and there is a movie that shouldn't be missed. The noodle cup decorating was 500 yen for the cup and was a lot of fun. This would be a great rainy or hot day activity!

Not a gimmick - this is a genuine explorative experience of one of Japan’s great innovators and most famous products. Terrific value just to look around (500y) and the views of the Yokohama seascape from the top are incredible. Lots of additions for the kids - make your own cups and flavours, big kids playground area and a full kitchen set up for those wanting a serious experience! But I just went for a look, an hour was plenty without the add ons and it was a pleasantly rewarding experience.

The Cup Noodle Museum in Yokohama was a fantastic experience. We tried the My Cup Noodle Factory which included admission to the museum area and a timed cup noodle decorating and making experience for 1000 yen. The exhibit contained the history of cup noodles and how its founder innovated the industry for the better up until his death. The exhibit goes through instant noodles beginnings, rise in popularity, and modern history. There is a hall full of packaging and separate areas to try the noodles like the food street and they even have a cup noodle flavoured ice cream! We went for 4 pm and while wish we would have gone earlier so we could try the ice cream but we still enjoyed the exhibit, noodle factory and the gift shop areas. They even have an outdoor observation deck area which gives a good view of the bay area.
The Cup Noodle factory experience was a lot of fun. We went with my wife's family who had children between the ages of 5 and 13 and they all loved it. The area is kept quite clean and each family/group of people gets a table for their group's size and some high quality markers to decorate their cups. After your cup is decorated there are some interactive items like using a handle and crank to put the instant noodles into your cup, picking a flavour and picking up to four toppings to put on to your cup noodles. After this they seal, wrap it in plastic and give you an inflatable carrying bag to put your cup in. I felt a bit silly carrying my cup noodle necklace around Yokohama afterwards but felt even sillier for not trying the chilli tomato flavour sooner!
If you want to visit there are limited time entry tickets for each experience and tickets are available for booking in three month booking periods (i.e. if you want to buy a ticket in December - start looking at the beginning of October). The Cup Noodle Museum is about an hour away from central Tokyo by metro so we made a day trip out to the area and enjoyed some good food, the red brick warehouse area and Yokohama Chinatown. The Minatomirai Station is the closest for metro stations but if you're coming from Tokyo you may want to go to the Sakuragichō Station so there aren't as many transfers.

This place is amazing! Great Experience to see how original cup of noodle was made. It was 500yen for admission for adults - they didn't charge me for my kids though - who are 15-16 and 17 so that was a plus. They only charged the 500yen to make your own cup of noodle - you get to design it and then they fill it up w/ ramen and the flavor you wants w/ toppings. You could also make your own ramen from scratch, like noodles and all - there weren't any more spots for that the day we arrived but it was fun watching the kids and their parents take the class for it. Overall very good place to explore and learn about ramen. Lots of areas to explore around the building like the small amusement park, etc.

We showed up in the evening towards the end of the operating hours and were able to purchase tickets as walk ups. We were given a time to be at the make your own noodles, which gave us plenty of time to wander through the museum part.
It begins with a film about the history of Cup Noodles which had English subtitles. It’s a great story of perseverance and ingenuity. The museum is well spaced out for crowds with many interactive displays for children and adults.
For the making your own Cup Noodle, you do need 500 Yen (in cash) to buy the cup and get started. You are directed to a child sized table with markers to decorate your cup. Once you are done, you go up to the line to have your cup filled with noodles and different toppings. I used my Google translator at the table to read the different toppings, so I was prepared when I got to that part of the line. We all stumbled through it, but it was a fun experience!

Had a great time at the CupNoodles Museum in Yokohama. Was able to get an early reservation for the Chicken Ramen Factory and so glad I got them. It was very fun to learn about and actually make the instant ramen from scratch. It was well worth the 1000 yen fee each. A great experience! Then we had lunch in the Noodles Bazaar including the shaved ice dessert which was very nice. The museum itself was interesting and instructive about the innovative Motofuku Ando who on his own literally invented the instant noodles process. Amazing how instant ramen and cup noodles have transformed the food industry and have become widespread in feeding the world! A great time. Highly recommend this but allow enough time.

Planning to go to yokohama especially the cup noodle museum. Just wan to ask..i be staying in shinjuku area btw, do i get on the JR Shonan Shinjuku Line to yokohama or take the bulllet train? Can i stop at Shin- Yokohama too if i want to go to noodle museum?
Skrevet 30. september 2019
Try the Fukutoshin Line from Shinjuku. The name of the train line will change, but you can stay right on the same train all the way to Yokohama. Double check with Google Maps. Get off at Minatomirai Station for Cup of Noodles Museum.
Skrevet 1. oktober 2019
Is it far from Sakuragicho Station?
Skrevet 24. august 2019
Not at all. Maybe 15-20 minute walk at the most. An even closer station is Bashamichi Station on the Minatomirai Line.
Skrevet 27. august 2019
Can we come and purchased the tickets at the venue?
Skrevet 21. november 2018
You can purchase the tickets to design the cups at the museum. You will need to make a reservation and pay online if you want to make the ramen noodles from scratch experience.

Dear all, planning to make a day trip to Yokohama. Any suggestion of where are the nearby places that I can visit after my trip to the cup noodles museum? Thank you.
Skrevet 15. juni 2018
Hi,
going from memory so apologies if it's not great info or too clear, sorry in advance.
There's a few points of interest within close walking distance.
There's World Porters shopping centre where you can also pick up something to eat (lots of choices).
Red Brick Warehouse.
As said above there's the big wheel and an amusement park. Cosmoworld i think it's called.
Landmark plaza is also a handy shopping and food area.
Taking a stroll to Chinatown and even a little longer the bay stars arena baseball stadium (closer to Kannai station if i remember right).
There's also a couple of parks to relax in around Sakuragicho and on the other side of the train station there's a zoo.
If you're visiting with kids then there's the Anpanman museum about 10-15 mins walk (depends how slow you walk) from the cup noodle museum. That from memory is right in between Sakuragicho and Yokohama stations i think.
Hope that helped.
Skrevet 15. juni 2018
How much time on average is necessary to finish touring the whole museum?
Skrevet 8. juni 2018
Depends how much you want to wander around the areas, look at all the packaging and designs carefully and if you want to watch all the videos.
Also if you want to create your own cup noodle.
Can be anything from 25-30mins if powering through to 90-100mins hours if taking it all in and creating your own item I'd say from memory.
Hope it helps.
