Highly recommended! Antonina was a truly excellent guide and great company on our pleasant and fascinating walk. She combines impressive and relatable knowledge about the history and culture of the city with an enthusiasm and love for Almaty's eccentricities that is infectious. We came away not just well informed about this lovely city, but fond of it too -- and are definitely making plans to return. We also enjoyed the great collection of photos and extra nuggets of information on the Walking Almaty website. Thanks to Antonina and Dennis at Walking Almaty -- you are great ambassadors for this city!

Knowledgeable and engaging tour

We had an incredible time on our tour with Antonina! She was very knowledgeable about the architecture, history, and artwork in Almaty and greater Kazakhstan. The tour was energizing and Antonina had a booklet of historical photos to give us context as we walked. 10/10 tour, I would recommend this for everyone interested in Kazakhstan and its history.

Unique insight into Almaty architecture

One of the best and most unique city tours I've taken. Antonina is both knowledgeable and passionate about the architecture in the Golden Quarter. In a little over 2 hours, I got a history lesson, an art and architecture tutorial, and a city tour all in one. I can't recommend this tour enough

Amazing Customized City Tour

Antonina was an incredibly knowledgeable and personable guide who gave us exactly the tour of Almaty we were looking for. She met us at our hotel and immediately immersed us in the complex and interesting history of Almaty. Her candor, perspective, and immense knowledge made for an incredibly interesting learning experience over the next 2+ hours as she took us around the golden quarter. Couldn't recommend more highly especially since she tailored the experience just for us.

Don’t miss this tour in Almaty

I can’t speak highly enough of this walking tour with Dennis Keen. Dennis is relaxed and engaging and really knows his stuff. The tour is a perfect length and pace, and you go to super interesting places that help you understand the city. Some really cool surprises.

We're Keen on Dennis

Dennis has lived in Almaty for many years, and it shows. Fantastic tour which explains the many highlights of this city. Full of information and top tips for coffee and burgers. Dennis will explain why the paths have deep ditches at their edge, and why the tree trunks are painted white. Top man and a top guide!

Best Walking Tour in Town

Dennis was an amazing guide, almost anything I could point to he had not only knowledge on but local backstories and culture to go with it. (I was not expecting Kazak Pigeonery to be so rich and interesting) A must do tour if you are in Almaty, Dennis is a walking encyclopedia on all things Kazakhstan and can give you indepth insights into parts of the city you wouldnt have even realized had history!

Brilliant tour, must-do in Almaty

Dennis Keen’s tour was really great and one of the most interesting I’ve been on, anywhere. Dennis is a true expert who knows Almaty and Kazakhstan’s history, culture and language extremely well and is a fun and engaging guide. If I knew of anyone coming to Almaty this would be the first thing I’d recommend they do.

Essential Almaty tour, fantastic tour guide

A fantastic experience whether you're a traveler or an Almaty resident. Dennis is more than just a tour guide. He's truly a researcher and a scholar with an abundance of experience showcasing Kazakhstan in many formats. Very overqualified, in my humble opinion.

We specifically took the Golden Quarter tour, which I would recommend to anyone who finds themselves in Almaty. It's a nice 2-hour tour, mostly in the shade, and you get a really nice overview of the center of the city.

I would highly recommend checking for his updates on the @walkingalmaty Instagram page. I believe it has the most updated information, especially compared to his website. I think email or Instagram DM's are solid ways to contact him for a tour. Your mileage may vary with his website.

Overall, 10/10.
