Our family was absolutely delighted with the visit and guided tour. Leong (the guide) was knowledgeable, humourous and overall outstanding. The kids loved the visit.

Really enjoyed the tour of the museum at 2pm 27th May. Our guide was so well versed and had a good sense of humour. Made the tour so interesting. Learned quite alot on the history of Ipoh. Had some reminders of my younger days. Keep up the good work to keep the history of Ipoh alive for the younger generations.

Leong was great! It got a bit noisy at times with such a big group since there was a tour group with us, but it was superb having the information shared by Leong. (:
Learnt a lot and am inspired. (: Glad we went for it.
Limited slots are available, and many do not know that prior booking is needed online. Was good that the Ho Yan Hor staff share with (many) people who stop by (just like us who initially arrived disappointed that it was closed) that we have to make bookings by scanning the QR code at the door. The sign did not state that.

Having left Ipoh in 1984, we were given a 'par excellence' presentation on tin mining and Hakka pioneers of Ipoh by Mr. Leong Meng Fai, one of the curators of this beautifully restored museum.
Surprisingly, many locals are unaware of this place. If they are, have not visited. In the 1 hour, that went like 15 minutes, some of my knowledge on Ipoh has not only been corrected but transformed and enriched. Thanks to Mr. Leong, an alumnus of Anderson School, I left feeling proud of Ipoh's heritage.
Like the approach - a suggested donation rather than entry fee towards the ongoing maintenance of the museum.

My favourite part was getting to know better about tin mining history in Ipoh.
The guide Mr Leong was very enthusiastic to share the history to the participants ,and the villa itself is very clean and well maintained even some parts are air conditioned.

Was hesitant that my wife and i would be the only couple exploring this museum, turns out it was fully booked for our time slot at 11am!
Tour was conducted by a charming middle aged man who provided us with great back stories of the Hakka community and their influences in the Kinta Valley Mining industry. easily spent 1 hour exploring the once gentlemen's club for the wealthy Hakka tin miners which is 120 years old.
There is no entry fees to this museum but donations are welcomed at the end of the tour. A well deserved and preserved attraction in the centre of Ipoh city.

A visit to Han Chin Pet Soo was such an enjoyable visit. The team has done a great work in bringing this century-old building back to life and restored it to its original condition. The guided tour was informative and there was never a dull moment learning about the history of Hakka miners back in their glory days.

Hi Ng C, apologies for not replying to you in Chinese. With regards to tickets, we do not charge any entrance fees but we do welcome a suggested donation of RM10 per person at the end of the tour which is not compulsory but does help us with the upkeep of the building.

The most we can fit in at one time is 60 pax divided into 3 concurrent groups and the shortest tour like that would be one hour.
We can always make special arrangements if you give us advance notice.

Yes can book. No fee required but they ask for a rm$10 voluntary donation to upkeep the place.

Dear Yvonne L, thank you for you enquiry. You can book your visit by clicking the "Book Now" button on our Facebook page which is listed as our website on TripAdvisor. Our tour sessions are as follows; 9:30am, 11:30am, 2:00pm and 3:30pm (weekdays), 9:30am, 11:30am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm (weekends).

Dear SueOng1009, thank you for your enquiry. Yes, we would definitely encourage you to book ahead as it may be crowded. We are only closed on the 28th of January (First day of CNY) but will be open on the 29th, 30th and 31st of January. Hope this helps. =)

is the guided tour mandatory/ essential and is the place child-friendly. we have a six year-old who doesn't have the attention span for a 75min tour.

They prefer that you go thru the guided tour which we found quite fun and informative. Our 8 yr daughter also enjoyed the experience , taking pictures and having the adults in the group explaining how all the old things that we hadn't seen since our childhood used to work. Honestly when the guide said that it was going to take an hour and a half i didn't believe it could or that we would stay that long, but you really do find a lot of historical things to linger on. Now we didn't book or register prior to showing up, so we were lucky that they had staff there when we showed up .. they run the tours at set hours, and as i think i noted in my review the doors are usually closed to maintain the air conditioning , so don't be put off it the placed looks like its closed.. ring or knock and wait , someone should show up quickly. Also you might want to go next door to the medicinal tea house after your tour .. not quite as long but interesting and you can pick up some healthy tea .. Concubine Lane is right across as well but we had run out of time.
