The owner is very passionate about tea. he taught us the difference between white vs black tea and everything in between, and was really good in teaching us how to make tea and recommending tea.
we had tea there for hours, as well as bought tea back for our family. the white tea was really good.

オーガニックの、特に緑茶に拘っておられて、毎年二ヶ月農園に籠ってお茶作りなさるとか。私の愛飲茶はほぼ全部ケミカル入っているという事で全滅。勉強になりました。クアラルンプールに支店があるそうなので、次回はそちらでの購入を考えたいです。お茶のお値段は時価ですので、比較が難しいですが、こちらの銘柄茶、日本のある茶商よりかなり安いような。
最後、お茶談義にあれこれと花が咲いてすごく楽しかったです。これほどのレベルの話は、そうそう伺えるものじゃないですし、そこを悠々とやって下さるご店主はもう凄いなんてものじゃないです。いや、ペナンで貴重な体験をさせて頂きました。

My wife and I stumbled upon this place while walking the buffer zone of historic Georgetown. I love tea, so I made her go.
She liked the excellent pu-erh tea even more than I did. We sat down with the owner and his friends for about 2 hours and enjoyed many runs of 2 different types of tea (both pu-erh, probably 10-12 runs each).
The owner and his friends were very welcoming and had a lot to teach us about tea cultivation and preparation in Yunnan Province, China. They also have some tea to buy, but we didn't fell pressured. We bought a small amount, as we're backpacking, but plan to buy more when we next visit Penang.

Mister Huang is really very devoted to the quality of his tea. He stays in China several months to control the entire production process of his tea. He specializes in Pu‘er tea. It was very interesting to sample teas and discusd with this Master.

If you enjoy real Pu'er tea, a visit with Mr. Ng is a must when in Georgetown. He is both knowledgeable and passionate. An hour with him is more informative than days of reading.
As they say in the wine trade, tasting is believing. Mr. Ng's Shēng Chá is a revelation. The guy visits the trees in China twice a year and oversees every aspect of production. He'll show you the photos and the lab reports: all handmade and organic. It's not cheap, but it's the real thing.
Don't worry if you can't buy. Show an interest, and Mr. Ng is more than happy to share time with you over a cup or two (or three), assuming he's not busy. He loves to hold court at his beautiful wooden desk and talk to visitors. It's fascinating to watch him brew the tea as he talks about it. Show an interest, and he's happy to share some very special tastes. A lovely guy. I not only brought some very nice tea, but I feel like I made a friend.
A note about the scattering of negative reviews here: Mr. Ng also explained that when he's on his bi-annual trips, sometimes his wife takes over. Her English is very limited. This would explain what seemed like the cold shoulder. Bad timing. Don't take it personally, as it's a family business.

Do you want to find real China tea shop? You must visit this place! This is best China tea shop on all Penang! Premium quality tea. You can try any tea before you will buy it. My favorite tea is Ti Guan Yin in golden box. Owner is the true tea wizard :) He can tell you very much about tea. I very recommend this place for all Chinese tea lovers!

Je suis rentrée dans cette boutique un peu par curiosité et un peu intéressée. J'ai été très bien accueillie par un monsieur sympathique qui m'a expliqué avec photos à l'appui sa production. J'ai acheté du thé noir Wuyi ; un délice. Je regrette de ne pas avoir pu y passer plus de temps (j'étais attendue) et y faire d'autres achats. Je ne savais pas qu'il y avait des visites.

I visited this Chinese tea shop to buy tea for my husband. They grow their tea in Xishuangbanna province of China. Some tea here come from the trees that are 300 years old. The taste changes from the first brew -being very fresh-to the later brews -being strong and flavorsome. The owner is very friendly and knowlegeable about his tea. Some interesting fact: if steep tea for 3 minutes and throw that water out and then steep again it will remove 50% coffeine from the tea.

We had decided we would do the tea brewing workshop as recommended by other reviewers. However, we were ignored when we went in. There was a cursory look up from what they were doing but no other acknowledgement of our presence. So unlike other places we went to in Penang. Our experience was so different to other reviewers that I had to check we were talking about the same place.

We will only be in Penang for 1 day (January 5, 2016 Tuesday) May we please visit the shop after the cooking class we are organizing??
The coking class is over approximately by 6pm and we must return to hotel/cabin by 8pm latest.
