We are going on a cruise to isle of pines just wondering what would be the best tour as we will be there on the -5 of February this year for 2 of us
We didn't do any tours. Took our goggles and snorkels, hired a $20 paddle board paying oz cash and spent 4 hours looking at underwater life/fish and taking in the stunning view. We took packaged snacks that we packed prior to the cruise and water.
How common are the sea snakes and are you likely to come across them when you are actually snorkelling? On land they're easy to dodge, but in the sea I'm nervous...
We saw a tiny one on land approx 30 long. None in the water that we saw
Hi, we are travelling to New Caledonia and wondering if we should stay on the Isle of Pines or if the natural pools and Oro Bag could be seen in a day trip from Nouméa? Thank you very much!
Hi there, you can do the isle of Pines, baie d'Oro etc in a day trip however i would suggest you take a little more time there and really soak up the environment. we stayed at Kuobugny and loved it. the restaurant sits literally right on the beach and watching the sunset from there every night was pretty special. Be warned though all of New Caledonia is very expensive and the isle of Pines is no exception. If you can manage it try to stay there when there are no cruise ships in as that really spoils the place - crowded with tourists. We decided to take an outrigger style boat up through Upi bay to baie d'oro and then walked through the rainforest to the swimming pool. we then walked back later past the Meridian and had a seafood feast on the shore which was a highlight of out trip. There is really not much to see and do in Noumea but it is a good base to travel to some of the outer islands. If you have some French then traveling around Grande Terre by car is a fabulous way to see this gorgeous country. Have a wonderful holiday.
