Don't waste your time. The entire museum is four rooms and does not cater to non-Romanian tourists. The only thing offered was one photocopied page in English for the the whole museum. You'd think they'd make more of an effort, as they only paying customers in the entire museum were non-native speakers.
To top it off, the woman working the tickets/concessions was rude, dismissive, and rolled her eyes every time we tried to communicate. Sorry, we're tourists and don't speak Romanian... I guess we'll take our $$$ elsewhere.

We went this morning (11 August 2023) to the National Museum of Transylvanian History in Cluj.
We discovered (after we bought our tickets) that foreign tourists are not welcome in this musem.
There is not a single word in the explanation of the exhibits in languages different from Romanian.
When we complained, we were offered half a page in English on the whole museum.
Tourusm still has a long way to go in Cluj.

It's a nice museum in the center of Cluj where you can learn more about the history of the city and also visit some temporary exhibitions. We enjoyed seeing the Greek pottery collection.

il museo (costo entrata adulti 10 lei) si divide su due piani. Il primo piano ripercorre la storia di Cluj nel tempo, mentre il secondo piano più interessante presenta le tracce romane sul territorio con reperti, immagini video e ricostruzioni. Le descrizioni sono in rumeno e qualcosa in inglese mediante QR code. Visita veloce ed utile in un giorno di pioggia come questo.

De geschiedenis in dit museum gaat alleen terug naar revolutie in dec 1989.

Museo molto interessante, soprattutto per quanto riguarda la sezione antica, da visitare assolutamente magari dopo aver visto la fortezza Dacica di Sarmizegetusa Regia.

Thought this would give me some ideas on the history of Transylvania, but its mostly artifacts and pictures/photos and not much explanation of the history of the area.

On second floor with no lift! One area with well preserved historical artifacts. Second area with photographic display. No captions in English. OK but not a must see.

We went there to learn more about Romanian history, but it was disappointing. They show a lot of pottery and old iron stuff but they have only few explanations. Unfortunately English Translations are available in only half of the rooms.

I can't speak to the museum itself as it is, as of late June 2018, closed. However, there are three exhibits on the first floor, and they were great.
The first exhibit is about stereographic (3d) photos from the First World War. The exhibit explains what stereographic photos are and why they were popular more than a century ago. The photos themselves showcase life for the soldiers on both sides of the conflict. Plus, there is some additional paraphernalia from the war on display. All of the information is in Romanian, English, and Hungarian, and there is a book in one of the rooms that gives more detail in Romanian and English.
The second exhibit is an Egyptian mummy and sarcophagus. It was really cool to see, and it is amazing how bright the colors on both the sarcophagus and mummy have remained over all of these years. However, there is only one panel of information about this exhibit, and it is only in Romanian.
The third exhibit is about pre-Roman Dacia, which is a region in present-day Romania. On display are iron ore goods and pottery along with two interactive digital displays. Outside of labels for the items, there is no text.
