I was in Museum with my friend, as a part of a Timisoara visit. The place represents history we all know from movies or we experienced from our grandma's and grandpa's stories. There is no entrance fee, so basically you donate as much as you want or can. I like that there is also a bar, so you can drink a beer after the visit. Ambient is non ordinary.

Nice place, gathering lots of memories, yet quite unorganised. Could become an amazing place providing a great experience if objects displayed get organised. Currently it can easily bring up a feeling of visiting storage spaces…
Tea in the outside garden was really good, though!

Surprising and ironic, a choice, certainly, very well thought out by the creators of this unusual and unique museum. "Don't look back in anger"! Free entry, extraordinary for the variety/diversity of the pieces on display which recall a past that is simply gone! They remind us of our childhood, or adolescence, maturity! For some very young people I think they are unpublished finds, for me, they were all well known even if I hadn't had them all. I appreciated the bohemian air that was breathed, the irony and good taste in setting up this museum which belongs to the communist consumer! Not communism. I would gladly see it again, it managed to highlight the consumer in an era where it was a bit difficult to consume something, to highlight habits, weaknesses, all in an ironic and without malice way.

Interesting collection of large variety of objects from communist era. Nice people. Looks a bit crowded of objects, one on top of each other.

The museum is worthwhile for both the younger generation and the older generations who lived and suffered under communism. The younger generation gets an idea of what life was like in Romania during the communist era, and for the older generation, memories are awakened - as was the case with me, even though I left Romania around 50 years ago. I was amazed at the feelings and memories I had when I saw various objects.

I did not regret the visit. I would like to say that I found it too crowded.
You are overwhelmed by the totality of the objects.
But I understand and appreciate the commitment and work that the employees (probably on a voluntary basis!) put in.

It should be an incentive for the tourism office or the mayor's office of the city of Timisoara to support this work, for example by making larger rooms available so that the objects are seen as witnesses to the times. A museum like this is very important,
it is a duty that such times are not forgotten!

I was very impressed by the terrace and the garden!

An appeal to the organizers - please campaign vehemently for financial support from the responsible authorities.

Big praise to all employees for their work - please keep it up!

We wanted to visit the museum, it actually seemed quite interesting, but we were put off by the rather unfriendly employee and left.

This was such a great place to be! The museum is really cool and the bar is so welcoming and cozy, especially during summer time. No matter whether you lived in a communist country or not, you will find the experience interesting.

The museum has several rooms full of stuff from the communist period, it looks like an apartment so it can get a bit crowded if more people are there at the same time. Entry based on donations. The objects are well preserved and brought back a lot of memories. We need more museums like this. The place has also a bar and a very cozy yard with tables for a lazy drink.

A very special museum located in Timisoara - very close to the city center - about 15-20 min walk from the Cathedral square.
It is a collection of objects - ranging from books, signs from factories or stores, toys, kids games, bottles, household items, TV's , clocks , dishes .... you name it - everything that was so common when I was a kid - in the early 80's you can find here.
The museum is located in a pub, garden bar and private theater - yes this place is all of the above and than some.
Visiting is free of charge - but they rely on donations - so don't be shy and "feed" the piggy banks after your visit.
It is a true immersion in the items of the communist era, for me it brought back memories of my childhood - I remembered having this toy and that book , and that decoration ... overall very very interesting and even more interesting for those who are younger and they did not lived through that period.
So when you are in Timisoara and you would like to visit a very interesting and intriguing place - pay them a visit , the "Museum of the Communist Consumer" is awaiting you.

This is a kind of museum I experienced before in Russia, Poland, eastern Germany and other ex communist countries. It's a private house with a concept of free entry and visit, funding themselves on donations or having a drink at their cute and laid back garden bar.
The museum is in a southern, residential part of Timisoara with no other attractions around, so beware you're going only to see this. But, you wont regret it and it's only around 15 min walk from the center.
The museum is set on two floors - the lower one being bigger and more interesting.
Open your eyes and look around - there're million objects: posters, pictures, records, home appliances, telephones, toys, empty bottles, TVs, dishes, bicycles,...you name it, it's there - all from the Romanian communist era.
You need around 30-45 min to see all, after which you can have a drink in the garden.
