関西ツーリストインフォメーションセンター 京都は、京都タワーの３階にある観光案内所です。観光案内所ではなく、ツーリストインフォメーションセンター という名前の通り、外国人に対応しているようですが、この時期は外国人の姿はありませんでした。
京都の観光パンフレットはもちろんありましたが、旅行会社発行の旅行パンフレットがたくさん並んでいる様子は、旅行会社的でもありました。

京都タワーのビルの３階に、こちらの観光案内所がありました。いくつかの言語に対応しているようでしたし、外国語のパンフレットもありましたが、コロナ渦の中だったので、外国人の姿はなかったと思います。窓口も広く、パンフレット類も充実していました。

Takes a little time to find; across the road from the main station at Kyoto. Helpful English speaking staff. We purchased the Kansai Thru Pass here. Cash only.

This is a must stop once you arrive in Kyoto. I found the staff to be very helpful and knowledgeable. It was my first time in Japan and I felt at ease after visiting the tourist info centre.

Nog nooit zo goed en vriendelijk geholpen bij een toerist informatie balie.

The staff were very professional and spoke excellent English and a little Malay. For the practising Muslims, there is a small prayer room. Please ask for the keys from the staff.

ほとんど外国人の方でしたが日本人でも対応してもらえます。
ここは比較的人が少ないほうだと思うので、ゆっくり相談されたい方には良いと思います。

On the positive side, staff spoke good English and were knowledgeable about various tours. They always tried and were willing to help. They were patient, and willing to work overtime to get things done. No doubt about that. However I felt that they might sometimes be a little bias towards tours. Let me give an example.
We went there to buy in advance Sagano romantic train tickets. Due to peak demand, the lady at the Centre told us that tickets for the entire week were sold out (the train ticket costed 620 yen). But places for a tour (5900 yen pp) which departed from Kyoto including a ride on the romantic train plus some other activities were available.
I thought that if the tour places were not filled by the tour day, the train tickets would likely be available to other people. So I went to Torokko Kameoka Station on the day, and luckily, standing tickets in car 5 were available! Furthermore, 4 seats in car 5 of that train were not occupied!
The second thing I wanted to mention was that I was after a tourist map of Kyoto. The lady got a number of tour brochures and showed me the (fragmented) maps in those brochures. On the next day I went to the Information Centre at the bus station. In no time they gave me a Kyoto tourist map and a bus map clearly showing the scenic spots and bus routes.
My feeling is that if you want to join a tour (even if you do not know which tour to join), the Kansai Tourist Information Centre will be an excellent place to go. But for general information, the Centre may not be the best place.

My wife and I visited Japan earlier this year for the first time . It was an amazing experience , made even better thanks to the superior service provided by key staff members at the Kansai Tourist Information Center Kyoto, in conjunction with JTB Travel. Yasami Yabu ,Joyce Nga Wing Chan and Yo Koitani went above and beyond to help us with travel and hotel accommodations . An amazing team.
For first time travelers to Japan , I highly recommend the Kansai Tourist Information Center / JBT team . Their professionalism and support far exceeded anything we have experienced in our many years of international travel! Thanks !

Hi, I would like to know which other places in Kansai would suit me, after I have spent a week in Kyoto: I am looking for a rural place with a different vibe to Kyoto. Needs to be easy to get around and I will be travelling on my own. I am interested in art, culture, history, but also rural lifestyles, craft, and love to trek, as long as not too arduous. I am thinking of buying a Kansai train pass. I will be visiting in the first two weeks of February.
Also, is it difficult to visit Hiroshima from Kyoto?

Ms. Debenchine, We are so sorry..... to be really late to notice your message...
If you are still staying in Kyoto and you didn’t see rural place,
we recommend "Miyama" in north side of Kyoto perf.
It takes 1 hour 40 min. by JR train and bus from Kyoto station.
For art, I recommend "Naoshima" .
This is a small Island located between Kyoto to Hiroshima.
If you have time, Please visit to our information center on 3rd floor in Kyoto tower.
We can make your plane and give some information and maps.
If you need help we can make a reservation all transportation too.
we hope you enjoy Japan.
