this is a beautiful old theater, just go in the front entrance and they will explain your free self guided tour[can't go in the projection room, or on the stage proper.] i always leave a donation for them. at present to go up into the baloneys, you may need to go to the left side. to go downstairs it is the same, go to the left side. you can see the dressing rooms, some of the mechanics under the stage, and you can walk all the way up the tunnel and back up the the foyer if you like.

The paramount is steeped in history and is just magical. I LOVE going there and watching pretty much anything. I can't WAIT to bring my daughter here when we visit next!!!

We took an evening to attend the Paramount Theater's presentation of the original film West Side Story and enjoyed the film nearly as much as we enjoyed being in the Paramount. For those who have never been there or attended one of their presentations on film or live on stage, I heartily recommend a visit at your earliest convenience. The theater is wonderful and the staff is knowledgeable and accomodating. An outstanding evening of entertainment. Try it and you are bound to return.

Whoever had the idea to save and renovate this theater should be praised and admired. The building is nicely done; I'm old enough to remember that this is what movie theaters always looked like, and it's nice to have one come back.
We went to a showing of When Harry Met Sally and enjoyed the crowd, the ambiance and the theater itself.

The old Paramount Theater has been kept original which is wonderful. This is really a gem. If you cannot catch a movie there at least see if you can get inside for a tour.

The Paramount is an historical place to enjoy entertainment of all sorts. Movies, concerts, plays...it is great to sit under the stars and enjoy. The only minor downside are the seats are old and not very comfortable, but the quality of entertainment makes up for it and as you watch and listen you soon forget about the seat. We have never attended a bad event at the Paramount.

A blast from the past- feels like stepping back in time to the 50s or 60s. Have seen live shows and movies here and loved them both.

My wife and I recently attended the Nutcracker Ballet at the theater.
The decor was very nice, real classic old theater feel. The twinkling lights in the ceiling were a nice touch.
The only complaint I might have were the very small, close together seats. It made it near impossible to enjoy any snacks or beverage you bought from the concession, for fear of elbowing the person next to you.

I love the Paramount and have visited for numerous events/performances. Never been disappointed in this beautifully restored historic theater. They host live theater, live music, movies and a variety of special events. Very reasonably priced concessions located downstairs. A real gem for Abilene!

What if you could cheat time and return to an era of majestic, large single screen, balcony seating theaters of 80 years ago? Only with air conditioning and modern conveniences?
What if you could enter a theater lobby and almost feel the presence of the great actors and actress that had graced these doors decades ago as they travelled the country to promote their newest picture show?
If you are a theater buff, as I am, and enjoy a nostalgic walk down memory lane, you owe it to yourself to stop by this theater and take the tour. Try to schedule a trip where you can take in a movie or other scheduled event.
Someone has donated much money and resources to preserving a treasure with stunning detail while preserving the acoustics and original decor. Simply breathtaking.
