Great museum for Texas dinosaurs. Wonderful bones and information. A dino hunters dream! Great for children and teenagers. Easy to self guide.

belles collections , mais avec un enfant difficile de rester concentré sur tout ce qu'il y a à voir, si possible le faire en plusieurs fois pour bien profiter de toutes les collections

There were so many things to see here. When we went there were both an archaeologist and a paleontologist present in the exhibits. Staff were personable and knowledgeable; really helped make the exhibits relevant for an elementary school student.

We took our 8yo grandson and 10 yo granddaughter to TMM on a hot afternoon and spent an enjoyable 1 1/2 hours inside touring the exhibits. The displays are designed for all ages with a few kid friendly activities at some exhibits. Our favorite was the dinosaurs. Many school groups take a sack lunch to eat out on the lawn under the giant oak trees.

my four- year old adored the museum. any dino lover will be impressed by flying pterosaur in the main entrance. the first floor has many interesting fossils, ranging from t-rex skull and complete mosasaur. third floor has a taxidermy feel, but kids liked pointing out the different animals. when we were there they had shark exhibit that was nice. by far first floor was the reason we went and the reason the trip was worth it.

This small natural history museum is located on the UT campus, right next to the San Jacinto parking garage. It has four floors of exhibits, and we found the shark exhibit on the top floor to be the most fascinating. A docent was located there to answer our questions. Some of the displays are dated; however, we have visited other museums like this on college campuses, and this one is holding its own. The first floor is beautiful, with a large lobby surrounded by mineral and gem displays. Overall, this was a nice place to visit with the kids and get out of the summer heat.

We ran into this museum when we took my son to UT Austin for a campus tour. It's not the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, but it's definitely worth a visit if you're going to be on campus. We particularly enjoyed the current special exhibit on the Buzz Saw Sharks. There's not a lot of interactive stuff, so this might not be the best museum for kids under age 6.

After numerous visits to Austin over 7 years we hit upon this little gem of a museum.
Situated over four floors it give a great insight into the animals and minerals to be found in the region.
I would suggest visiting after lunch as it is quieter and most of the school trips are in the morning.

My family loved this museum! The paleontology floor was our favorite and the interactive exhibit where the kids could call to learn more was entertaining. The special exhibit about the sharks was funny and educational. We also enjoyed the gift shop.

As a lifelong Austenite, I had never been here. I heard of their Texas Wildlife Day and thought it would be a good time to go. They had all sort of displays beside the normal displays for the special event. They had people there that are really into their science. They also had live bats on display. A very cool experience to see them so close up. I brought my 82 year old father so I appreciate the benches through out the museum. The entire place is four floors with the top floor a rotating display. The fourth floor is currently about sharks. As the other reviews state there is a lot of taxidermy and a lot of fossils. No it isn't a modern museum but still plenty of stuff to learn. There isn't a lot of interactive displays like modern museum but why is that needed. Have we really all gotten so lazy we can't read? We need screens and buttons to keep us informed? Well this gal and her father enjoyed the museum. We appreciated the special event. They have a small gift shop.
