Went to see stevie nicks with my kids and the place is so open and fun! Even with a fully booked show the place wasnt hot at all. Well ventilated and air conditioned. always love booking my concerts to attend here.

Went to this theatre for the Nick Cave concert - which was brilliant. Comfortable seats, great sound and really friendly staff. Drinks expensive. The shame is getting to the theatre and the poor homeless and addicted people that seem to fill the streets of Austin,

Whether or not your a fan of Austin City Limits, you'll definitely enjoy this 90 minute guided tour of The Moody Theater where ACL is filmed. This history, the stories and the magnitude of what it takes to put on a concert, film an episode of ACL or host a private party is incredible. The photo gallery is a favorite with iconic photos by Scott Newton and Jim Marshall.

One of the best venues in Austin. Acoustics are perfect and the staff are always hospitable. All types of concerts and comedy shows are available here

This lovely building was completed in February 2011 and is now the permanent home of the PPS Austin City Limits television show. Before entering the theater, we walk past a bronze statue of Willie Nelson and ascend the stairs to an outdoor patio, overlooking downtown Austin it has a nice bar where we mingled with other patrons and had pre-show drinks. Its lobby is lined with large photos of artists that have played here in the past.
Now after over a year of silence caused by covid 19, the Moody Theater is once again open for live shows, the first being “The Mavericks”, and we had tickets for one of the first opening night shows.
The theater holds 2750 fans but on this night there were only half that number of fans admitted, and we were sitting in alternative rows occupying every other seat, from our front row balcony location we had a great view of the stage, and fellow fans. Tonight’s band was playing a mixture of Tex-Mex, neotraditional country, Latin, and rockabilly music.
It was a night to remember, with the safe distance seating creating the feeling of being in a nightclub, allowing the music to resonate all around us. After a year of virtual playing the band really let loose, starting with their opening song “Here comes the sun” from the Beatles, they just seemed to get better and better. Playing many old favorites, plus quite a few new songs from their latest Spanish CD. At the end of the concert even with a reduced audience, the applause was deafening. This is a fantastic music venue there is not a bad set in the house.
Will certainly visit again next time we are in Austin.
TIP: With the limited seating do call ahead and make a reservation.

Had a great first experience here over Valentine's weekend. We were in the top balcony on the first row and it was legit. There is a bar on that level and restrooms too, so if those are the best seats you can get for an event don't hesitate to buy. I would have loved to have been on the floor, but wasn't a possibility for this show. BTW Kenny Wayne Sheppard and DB II tore it up along with SRV's Double Trouble drummer Chris Layton. They did a blistering SRV set that was worth the price of admission! Would love to come back for a taping of Austin City Limits.

We were in town to visit our son and decided if we're in Austin we have to go to ACL. So we bought tickets for Ozomatli & Los Lobos. Took the tour the morning of the concert, partially to get the lay of the land when it wasn't crowded. Concert was great to learn the history of ACL and the theater and all the unique features that were built into it. Lots of free swag at the concert and a great show.

Worth going to because of its iconic status and history which is on display but not overkill. Lots of free swag, or at least a little bit, in the foyer area. Five star review is because the sound was exceptional and the seating is good too. Nothing not to like.

I like the Balcony because you don't have to stand the entire show and you are still really close. It's a tight venue. (and it's cheaper)

If I were to try to get an artists autograph prior to concert would I wait at doors on 3rd street? Mark Knopfler has been known to stop and sign but only prior to the show. If you can give out such information I’d be grateful. I’m not a typical autograph hunter. Never done such before.

If VIP tics are available for purchase . They were certainly worth it for Metric concert.
Dire Straits and Knopfler . Saw them in the early 80’s I believe in Toronto. Unlikely they would offer VIP tho.

I can't find an official box office to but tickets for Willie Nelson in Dec 2018. Can someone that has been there please help? It's a lot of money and I want to know I'm safe. Thank you!

You go to the website—ACL-Live—and you can purchase tickets via the internet(if they are not sold out). I rarely deal with third party vendors but I have purchased tickets before from Ticket City.
I assume the reference to safety refers to not getting ripped off by a ticket vendor. There is certainly no safety concern about the area where the theater is located.
If the theatre is selling row seats for the floor, does that mean they will be seated or standing?

I have been there 3 times and there are folding chair on the main floor. I actually prefer the mezzanine.

It depends upon the artist. I recently saw Diana Krall and the floor was seated. For a lot of acts they prefer standing room crowds. When you go to purchase tickets at the ACL-Live website it will be clear whether there is seating on the floor or not. Hope this helps.
