Did the Alexandria Food tour. It was great. The tour guide Terry, was both friendly and informative. Learned about some history that I was not aware of before. Each food stop was top notch. Landini Brothers, Columbia Fire House, The Pita house and the chocolatier place.Great for couples, families and friends!

We did the Old Town Alexandria food tour with Terry and it was a lot of fun. We walked to four stops on the tour. The first stop was Landini Brothers for some yummy homemade spinach tortellini and bread. My friend and I also each had a glass of wine (this cost extra but well worth it). The second stop was Columbia Firehouse where we had salmon with couscous and roasted brussel sprouts (and again some more alcohol which we purchased). The third stop was the Pita House for some amazing Mediterranean food served family style. Lastly, we went to Blueprint Chocolatiers for a sampling of 3 of their amazing chocolates. It was so good that I purchased some to take home to my family. By the end of the tour, we were definitely full and happy. Terry was great and shared some interesting history of Old Town along our walks. The walking was just the right amount, not too much but also enough to get you moving in-between meals. It was also super fun talking to the other people on our tour and getting to know them a little. Definitely recommend!

LOVED Wayne! He was an awesome guide - so knowledgeable, fun, and really read the room and group. The tour was fascinating, enlightening, and quirky which I appreciate. The food stops were paced nicely and the each stop was a delightful experience. I'm very picky when it comes to good food and this definitely lived up!

When planning a bachelorette party I was torn between an escape room or a good tour. I'm glad I chose the food tour. all of the girls thoroughly enjoyed each locations and we left Alexandria full and wanting to go back to each restaurant we visited.

My husband and I booked a food tour during our stay in Alexandria. We enjoyed the experience overall. It was nice to experience the different food choices in each restaurant. We ended up going back to Landini Brothers, which was one of the restaurants we visited, for dinner that evening. Our last stop was dessert and it was a chocolate shop, called Blueprint. The chocolates there were very good. Our tour guide was very informative and a pleasure to be with.
The only negative I have is with one of the restaurants we visited. When refilling our water glasses, the second refill had small little floaters in it. This was a turnoff and made the experience not as nice. Overall we enjoyed our guide and the other two couples that were there too!

DC Metro Food Tours has great customer service. We really enjoyed the tour, which was a fun combination of history and food. We enjoyed one of the restaurants on the tour so much that we are returning next week to have a full meal there. Thanks for showing us around the city!

Thanks to Wayne for a very entertaining tour with great food stops! We even bought a little something extra from the chocolatier at the end.

Both your mind and your palate are expanded in this really fun day in Old Town Alexandria at the Food Tour. The group was the perfect size (11 people) from a variety of backgrounds; the walking was the right pace and distance (not a 5K!); and the choices of food was a fabulous blend of several historic restaurants in the area:
Italian Landini Brothers (appetizer out of this world!); Fire House Seafood (salmon and cous cous); and Pita House mediterranean tapas that we all shared. Top it off with the finest chocolate imaginable at Blue Print! Oh yeah, and you can order a glass of wine or a Firehouse Beer. The tour guide Mike was knowledgeable about the history of the city and shared early American history lessons and stories in an informative but not "Lectury" style. This was a perfect 4th of July weekend event, and we are so glad we did this!

My wife and I are in New York for her 50th High School reunion and decided we would spend a couple of days in NYC. I asked her what should would like to do and she said she would like to do a food tour. We looked at what seemed like an endless number of tours in the city, and decided on the Best of Brooklyn Food Tour. The fact that we would be seeing her old neighborhood where she was born in the Polish section of Greenpoint was a real plus. We booked the tickets, and the night before the tour we got a personal call from our tour guide Rick telling us where to meet the tour and asking if we had any food allergies or other requirements the night before gave us a real indication that we were about to get a taste of Brooklyn pride
The next morning, we took the subway to Greenwich Village where we were met by Rick and 8 other members of the tour, and Rick began by telling us all that we would see over the next 4.5 hours. Then he led us to a luxury AIRCONDITIONED bus. So off we went, and Rick immediately began sharing all sorts of history and about Brooklyn, it’s continual evolution, and of course it’s food.
My wife is a foodie – and the fact that we would be seeing her old neighborhood was a real plus. Our 2nd stop was across the street from a restaurant her mother would take her to when she was a child ½ mile from where her family lived. The Polish food we tasted at the stop brought my beloved back to her days of a young girl in Greenpoint giving her a chance to remember days past and share stories with the group.
Her favorite thing to do are food tours, and this was one of our best. For one thing, Rick made sure that everyone was tended to. I doubt if there was more than 10 minutes during the entire tour that he was not either sharing stories, talking about the history of Brooklyn, or giving us delicious morsels from a wide variety of restaurants with the back story of why this was representative of the traditions or trends in Brooklyn. We truly learned a lot about my darling wife’s place of birth, and we will remember this event for the rest of our lives.
And then there was the bus. I am from Northern California and quite frankly I don’t do humidity if I can avoid it. The day was hot and humid, and not only did we cover a lot of ground, the fact that it was airconditioned made the trip really special. We were very comfortable on the bus and would get to our stop to spend 10-15 minutes at a stop, and then back to the bus to cool down and do it again. I could not imagine what it would have been like if this were a traditional walk. We would have been sopping wet from the sweat. My hat is off to the driver who navigated through the historic but narrow streets of Brooklyn, sometimes with millimeters of clearance. We did have one spot where a delivery truck blocked our way, and he demonstrated the fine art of honking in NY. He observed, “so whad ah ya gunna do, da guys frum Joysy?" It was all part of the experience.
If you are looking to learn about the history and the food of Brooklyn, I definitely recommend the Best of Brooklyn Food Tour. It is a bit pricier than other tours, but well worth the cost. In addition, if the weather is less than perfect, especially if you are visiting in the summer humidity, you will love the bus. I have a feeling this will not be our last time on this tour.

Terry, our guide, was quite knowledgeable and kept a light atmosphere. We enjoyed his anecdotes and his suggestions on area points to visit. A must-do for a vacation activity!

Hi, my daughter and I will book a food tour on Sat. May 14 at 3 pm in Alexandria, but we need a recommendation for a moderately priced hotel that we can walk or short cab ride to the starting point of the tour. Not sure about the area via the maps I can see online. Thanks
