Whether you're interested in tea, photography, or simply enjoying nature's beauty, Munnar Tea Gardens is a must-visit destination. The tea plantations and landscapes in Munnar offer a truly breathtaking experience. There are vast tea plantations that cover the hills. The different shades of green and the well-maintained gardens make it a paradise for nature photographers.
If you're a fan of tea, this is the place to be. You can enjoy a variety of teas and even learn how to add flavours to your chai. Make sure to taste some of the local teas to experience their unique flavours. The presence of chocolate factories adds another dimension to your visit. You can not only see the tea being cultivated but also indulge in some delicious chocolates.
While many tea plantations are private properties and not open to visitors, some allow tourists, and some even offer tea-tasting experiences. It's essential to check the plantation's policies before planning your visit. Exploring the tea gardens through a drive will be the best option. Make sure to check the tea you're buying if you plan to purchase some. It's advisable to have a basic understanding of tea identification to ensure you get the quality you desire.
The most beautiful tea gardens in Munnar are:
Kanan Devan Hills Plantations, Nallatanni Estate
Kolukkumalai Tea Estate (highest tea garden in the country)
Sevenmallay Tea Estate
Pallivasal Tea Garden
Lockhart Tea Estate

Panorama davvero bello.

Roads were fantastic and so drivable . Loved the fact that there was no signal most of the time 😅 and the way the clouds enter your room is also a sight to be enjoyed and just soak in !

If you have never seen tea plantations and live in the hot tropical zone, I can imagine Munnar feels like paradise. If you have worked as a tea picker in the Munnar region all your life and live in a simple shack struggling to keep dry during the monsoon rains, your perpsective might be very different.
I wonder how the landscape looked like before the tea estates were established. Now wildlife has been pushed back to the very small wild margins of the plantations high in the hills. The original ecosystems were severely damaged. Perhaps time to at least give some of the land back. The general trend however is the other way. I observed many slopes being prepared for further extentions of the tea 'gardens'.

Worth the 250 rupees for foreigners to visit. The video explained the history of tea production in Munnar and modern production and how the tea companies support their workers with education, housing and jobs.

We stayed in Munnar and from the moment we arrived, we were surrounding by flowing green hills, tea gardens. There are many lookout and spots to stop for photos, but drivers need to be careful of the winding roads, especially during rain. We saw too many car and bike accidents. There are limited places to see tea being produced and even fewer to do a proper tea tasting. The scenery made up for that and being able to walk between old tea bushes, some with new growth, flowers and even seeds. It is a magical experience.

There are lot. You can plan according to days you have planned to spend in Kerala. becuase of traveling in between. Few I can say are apart from Munnar, there is few famous famous beaches and a historical temple and all in Trivandrum, you can go for house bout (ride or stayback in it), for that you have to each Alappy, dams at Idukki and palakkad, for water falls , island view etc on higher place apart from Munnar is wayanad. There Many. And should try the local foods. Easy way is you can google each district wise , make a plan according to it. Don’t waste by traveling lot , make the visit worth. So schedule the trip first. All the best

Tata Tea Factory and Madupetty Tea Factory are famous. Must Visit Tata Tea Factory to understand and watch the whole process of tea. The guide at Tata Tea factory will tell you everything. They charge Rs 100 as entry fee. All the tea gardens are beautiful

Yes, This attraction may be given a five star rating depending on the mentality and nature love of a visitor. In fact, tea gardens of Munnar are not so beautiful as those falling on the way from Munnar to Thekaddy. The tea gardens enroute to Thekaddy can find no words of appreciation

Hi,
Tea garden is not a one place in Munnar. There are several tea estates in Munnar. Tea gardens are everywhere along the road side in Munnar area. Many of them are properly fenced and going inside is not allowed. But there are many places where you can go inside the tea garden, enjoy the scenic view and click beautiful snaps. They are always open.
Hope this will help.
