Kalika Mata Temple is an ancient temple situated within Chittor Fort. The temple is placed between Padmini palace and Victory tower. Goddess Bhadrakali is the reigning deity. Besides tourists, local devotees also frequented the temple to worship the divine deity. The temple is constructed on a raised platform, the Kalika Mata Temple has nice exteriors. The pillars, mandap, entrances and the ceiling of the temple display lovely carvings. However, much of its glory was destroyed when Allaudin Khilji attacked Chittorgarh. The temple was rebuilt. the upper part of the structure is relatively new. We were told that the temple is visited by number of devotees every day.

This is a 14th century temple built from the ruins of a original 8th century Hindu temple . The upper parts of the temple is more recent construction. The temple is dedicated to Lord Bhadrakali and has thousands of visitors a day during normal times and Langur monkeys are all round the temple entrance accustomed to being fed by devotee's or even snatching food from unsuspecting victims.

This is a Hindu Temple located inside the Fort Complex and the Goddess Bhadra Kali is worshipped here who was Kuldevi of Panwar Clan. Pawar Clan is said to be the decedents of Chitrangana Mori who built Chittaurgarh. The Temple is in pretty good shape and is visited by thousands of devotees everyday.

The Kalika Mata Temple is a popular Hindu temple inside the Chittaurgarh Fort complex, with many locals coming to pray when I was visiting. The temple is principally for Bhadrakali, a form of the great goddess Shakti. Purely from an aesthetic point of view, the temple is not all that interesting. There’s the usual array of relief sculptures of Hindu themes, but the walls are not as elaborately decorated as many of the other temples in the complex. Okay to visit, but I wouldn’t go out of the way to see it.

We had visited Kalika Mata Temple located inside Chittorgarh fort during our vacation in Udaipur. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali and we could see this from outside only because of the huge rush of devotees on the auspicious occasion of Navaratri festival. This temple is considered to be sacred and very popular among locals.

This temple is located near Rani Padmini palace .This temple was originally constructed in 8th century AD, & is believed to be the oldest temple of the region. King Bappa Rawal of Sisodiya Dynasty originally built the temple as a Sun temple dedicated to Lord Surya, as is evident by the presence of a Suraj Kund built in front of the temple near Fatta Haveli. This Surya Kund was also built by Bappa Rawal. This temple suffered massive destruction at the hands of Delhis Sultan Ala-Ud-Din Khiljis army in the early 14th century.
However, later, Maharana Hamir Singh rebuilt this temple in late 14th century & established the idol of Goddess Kali , the symbol of power & valour , who is considered as an incarnation of Goddess Durga "the Divine Mother of the universe". Chittorgarh fort suffered many attacks & as Goddess Kali is believed to be the destroyer of all evil forces, this temple was built to ward off the enemy & bring victory to the army of Chittor. The Goddess is considered to be the protector of Chittorgarh since centuries. The annual festival held here attracts a large number of devotees, who come to seek the blessings of Divine Mother .
The temple has a beautiful architectural design similar to that of Meera Bai temple & is adorned with exquisite sculptures. It is located on an elevated podium with intricately sculpted entrance gate ,mandapa, ceiling & pillars. The splendid sculptures attract most tourists. Even though , the temple is partially in ruins, one can still marvel at its architectural credibility .
The temple premises also house a small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is known as Jogeshwar Mahadev.
An idol of Lion considered to be the vehicle of Ma Kali , stands just behind Jogeshwar Mahadev Temple.
Other important monuments of the fort like the Fateh Prakash Palace , Vijay Stambh, Fatta Haveli & Rani Padmini palace are clearly visible from the temple.
Dress modestly & remain silent when visiting the temple.
It is not recommended for those who are wheelchair bound or those who are suffering from knee problems as one has to ascend a steep flight of stairs to reach the temple.
Beware of the simian population as these are abundantly present around the temple. Do not carry any eatables.
Ample parking available.
