The journey took about 1hr 30 from Patong, but it was definitely worth the trip.
We were given a history of the area en route and what to expect for the elephants once we arrived.
We are against riding these beautiful animals and would like to see them being mistreated. Safe to say they we so well looked after by their handler.
We were able to touch them whilst feeding them leaves, which they loved. The 2 elephants were a 5yr old (Cheeky) male and a 15yr old female.
Once we had feed them and had photos taken, they went off with their handler to do their thing 💩 😬
They were then taken to their freshwater pool and we watched for about 15mins whilst they splashed about. We then joined them in the water and we brushed them down.
When you splashed the Male, he would thrash his trunk into the water, splashing anyone near. The also squirted you with water.
The Male was also kissing people on their head with his trunk.
We then went off and left the elephants to rest and we had lunch which was part of the day. I was also surprised by the staff giving me a birthday cake and singing happy birthday to me 😬😬

This trip was 3,400 baht p.p...approx £85. And booked through rak talay tours.
Overall I was disappointed with the excursion. There wasn’t enough activity time, and far too much waiting around, like they were trying to fill and pad the day out when it isn’t really a full day trip.
Considering it cost about £85 p.p, this trip was disappointing and was not value for money. I would give it a 2* rating.🙃
The trip started off at 09.00 hours with a road transfer of approx 75 mins to the white water rafting centre in the mountains. Upon arrival we were waiting around for a further 45 mins for the rafting to begin.
Not a good start, lots of traveling followed by waiting around.
We started rafting approx 11.15. This was excellent fun, enjoyable for everyone except disabled and very young persons. However, it only lasted about 30 mins. Far far too short and far shorter than I expected.
We then waited around about 30 mins before went on a quad bike trip. This lasted about 45 mins. Was quite fun, but again far too short and way down on my expectations.
We then had lunch. Pretty standard fare, chicken and rice. It was edible, but far from outstanding.
We then headed further up the mountains to tanwaripat waterfall. This was excellent, very good, very picturesque and well worth a visit. Entrance fee is only 50 baht, about £1.25 p.p.
However it is not suitable for disabled or people with mobility problems.

Travelled over an hour to get here from Phuket. Beautiful scenery and sights - even during the journey there. The waterfall is a short trek from the entrance. Once there, it is sight to enjoy. Only regret was not bringing my Canon! Only had my iPhone to take pictures with!

It was a day well spent at the Ton Pariwat Wildlife Sanctuary. At present, a package tour is offered by travel agencies (we took it from the tourism desk at Phuket airport) to include trekking on an elephant’s back through intact forests along both sides of the stream. Rafting is also available for adventure lovers. There is also zip lining and ATV rides which makes it all such fun. Also a part of the package is a small trek to the Ton Pariwat Waterfalls as well. The falls and the forest is indeed mesmerising...

What kind of sanctuary is Ton Pariwat? It does not seem like a real and proper animal sanctuary compared to other sanctuary where their funding and daily activities are transparent.

Hi, I just wanted to know if this Wildlife Sanctuary is a proper Sanctuary or do they mistreat and abuse elephants for tourist amusement.

No, it will not be a problem. They provide life jackets and also there are life guards to take care....
