After spending one night in a Tent Camp in the Tsavo West National Park, we decided to return to Nairobi by train. This small Sanctuary fell right in our path, and so our driver and guide briefly drove us through it for a little bit.
Taito Hills lies near the Southern Border of Kenya, and covers an area of 70 square miles and is situated at an elevation of 3937 feet above sea level. The landscape was hilly and very beautiful, but what struck us was the bright red color of the mud. We had never seen anything like it. Even the animals that we saw seemed to have a reddish tint. Would have liked to see a few more wildlife, but primarily, we saw a bunch of Elephants, a few Lions sitting by the side of the road, a Black-Backed Jackal and two zebras. Not too many, but it was the tint on their skin that we will remember the most. So unusual…!
We would have liked to spend more time here, but had to rush out so as not to be late for our train. Our time was short here, but it was worth our while…

Charlton the centre guide is the best! Aside from an amazing centre Charlton makes the experience memorable. Knowledgeable, funny, a great educator, his approach is interactive. You could spend all day with him learning - from poaching, the ugly, shy, small and big five to what to do after a snake bite...

The rangers were excellent, especially Charlton. So informative and helped us with everything there was to see, a lot of useful tips to stay safe in the wild as well as general interesting facts about the animals in the area. Accompanied by skeletons of the animals both male and female and also touching up on poaching. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary and the neighboring Lumo Community Wildlife Conservancy absolutely enchanted us! Not just the abundant wildlife but also an absolutely magical landscape guaranteed many 'ooohs' and 'aaaahs' and of course 'waaaaws'! Apart from Bura Dam, Lion's Rock and Thomas Bridge (where we observed lions hunting), Kudu Point is an absolute MUST for views over the whole area. Many thanks to Rangers Dennis and Gideon at Kudu Point's watch tower, for their great hospitality and interesting information on the sanctuary. We were very impressed with Ranger Gideon's command of the German language. We'll be back soon for more adventures!

I had been recommended and the place is charming veramante. Staying on stilts allows you to observe the animals going to drink in a pool of water and with an underground tunnel you can see a few meters. The structure is really special but well integrated for colors and decor, the park is very beautiful and you can see many animals. The buffet is rich and good, the only drawback the large presence of Italians "annoying" but alas this element has nothing to do with the structure but that distinguishes us everywhere in the world even according to the restaurateurs themselves.

From the comfort of the bar you see the unmatched abundance of game as they come to the lodge's waterhole; herds of cape buffalos, elephants, giraffes, etc.

Hi, we are planning to visit Amboseli this coming February for 3 nights and also contemplating to stay at the Salt Lick Lodge at Taita Hills for another 2 nights. Given that we are interested for photography, is it worth visiting Taita Hills or spend more nights at Amboseli itself? How are the game sightings at this reserve? And are the animals coming to the waterhole @ the hotel fairly common or purely a chance game?

Whilst I haven't stayed here, I would say that its nature, you have no guarantee on what you will see, but you will see something. Last year I saw 926 elephants and 2 lion cubs, this year I saw 546 elephants and 26 lions, lionesses & cubs. You will be able to take great pictures no matter what. Just don't be on a mission to go looking for a specific animal, take it as it comes. I met people who were racing round to see lions and didn't see any and didn't appreciate what they did see

Hello, I am arslan Sheriff and I am planning to visit one of the national parks namely taita hills wildlife sanctuary or tsavo east. At tsavo I am planning to stay at Sentrim tarhi camp or Ashill Aruba and at taita hills, am planning to stay at sarova salt lick game lodge. So I am very confused on where to go on my December holidays. either tsavo east or taita hills. Pls answer me fast.

We left Mombasa 6 am headed for tsavo east for a game drive and arrived at Taita Hills in time for lunch then stayed at Salt Lick. Salt Lick is a wonderful place to stay. Don't skip Tsavo East, the game viewing opportunities are plentiful, lots of elephants. You could do them both that way.
