A quelques kilomètres d’Ica. Ne vous attendez pas à un endroit bucolique. Hôtels, restaurants et boutiques les uns sur les autres. Un endroit qui finira peut-être un jour par être réglementé pour endiguer l’hémorragie des bouteilles plastiques vides par dizaines éparpillées dans les dunes. Ceci dit, la perspective du plan d’eau depuis les dunes est quand même étonnante.

Huacachina is a little village built around a small oasis, and surrounded by some massive sand dunes. The Lake was created by natural seepage from underground aquifers. There are several Bars, Restaurants and Hotels around the perimeter of the lake.
Many locals believe that bathing in these waters cures ailments such as arthritis, rheumatism, asthma and bronchitis. Tourists from around the world come here in by the hundreds for Sand Boarding and for riding on the fast and furious Dune Buggies.
We came to this place after our trip to Nazca. We had wanted to do the Buggy rides, but after watching the tourists scream and yell as the buggies went fast over and down the huge sand dunes, we requested a private buggy, so we could control the height of the dunes and the speed at which we would go. That was a far better option. Our ride was like a roller coaster, and a really exhilarating one. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Absolutely recommend this place if you are in the area, and like a little thrill on some awesome scenery

As paisagens são surpreendentes!e apaixonei mais pelo deserto do que pelo Oásis. Ah! E se gosta de emoção, não dispense o passeio de buggy.

It was an incredible experience with TERRA QUECHUA PERU, with good options that gives the tour, such as comfort, good treatment and good attention to the needs of travelers, the price is worth it, with good service to spend good times with family and friends, we visited the vineyards, we went to the Ballestas Islands, where we saw sea lions, penguins and dolphins. Beautiful, we took a ride in tubulars in the Huacachina and did sandboarding.
Finally the sunset photos are very beautiful and become unforgettable memories.

Un des meilleurs souvenirs du Pérou! Quels paysages de rêve, des dunes à perte de vue, une oasis magnifique, vous pourrez prendre de magnifiques photos.
Le buggy, c'était au top et le sandboard exceptionnel. A faire avec des enfants également!

Fantástica a visão dessa cidade, um oásis no meio das enormes dunas de areia. O passeio para essa cidade é impressionante, um visual único. É uma delícia subir nas dunas no início da manhã e também no entardecer. Por isso vale a pena passar pelo menos uma noite neste vilarejo.

Fuimos desde Lima , luego de pasar por Paracas e Islas Ballestas. Increíble el calor que hace allí en contraste con el frío que pasamos en Paracas. Tratar de llevar ropa que te puedas sacar ya que lo mejor es estar ligero y cómodo. Fuimos con el paseo en por la arena ya arreglado (sino atomizan ofreciéndolos) y si bien es divertido y emocionante es bastante peligroso, hay que tener mucho cuidado con no tener nada en las manos que se pueda caer como celulares o cámaras ya que nos aclararon que no vuelven a buscar nada. El oasis es hermoso y las vistas son majestuosas pero está tan lleno de gente que es dificl conseguir una buena toma sin que salga un gentío en la imagen. Me parece un lugar bonito para visitar en el día pero no para pernotar. Si bien hay hotelería y lugares para quedarse no me pareció atractivo para quedarse. Realmente fue un gran paseo.

La mejor forma de llegar es en taxi desde Ica, todas las agencias, te cobran adicionales innecesarios, el lugar es hermoso, lo mejor es alejarse de los vendedores y jaladores, de todos los restaurantes solo dos o tres son aceptables, solo uno o dos entregan boleta de venta formal, mal indicador, botes horribles, hermoso para solo pasear, y tomar un coche a las dunas, para comer, hospedarse o vida nocturna, mejor buscar otro lado

Un sitio con muchísimo encanto convertido en una trampa para turistas.
Puedes ir en taxi o mototaxi desde el centro por unos 7Soles.
La pena es que esta tan plagado de turistas y gente intentando venderte tours que pierde su encanto.
Buggies por el desierto o sandboard entre otra cosas.
Aún así visita recomendable.

You should wear pants!!!! the sand burns you! but depends on what time you want to come to Ica. The summer is from December to February! Buy sunscreen, sunglasses and enjoy your trip!

Tania, me he quedado pensativo con tu retroalimentación. En realidad, no sé qué hacer. Viajaré un fin de semana a Lima y pensaba irme desde el viernes hasta el domingo para Ica, pero ahora al leer tu comentario, quedé un poco espeluznado.
Agradeceré cualquier recomendación sobre lugares a visitar en un radio no superior a cinco horas desde y hacia Lima.

Travelling down to Ica by bus and taking a taxi onto Huacachina is easy. It has a nice atmosphere to enjoy and is was easy to arrange day trips from there to do the Nazca line ( we booked our flight on line first though), and Ballestas Islands. Have fun you can't loose. There are wine tours and all sorts to choose from in that region depending on your interests and budget.

in october I'm in Peru and plan also to visit the Ica region. Would you recommend to have a room in Ica or in Huacachina itself? Do you recommend a hotel/B&B/hostel ?

I stayed in the Hosteleria Suiza in Huacachina in March, they take bookings over the internet. The hotel is comfortable, has a pool, and the location is very nice.
Ica is a bit nasty, no reason to stay there.

We are planning to stay at Huacachina for the afternoon and leave for Arequipa by bus in the evening/night. Is there a place to leave our luggage so that we can go out to visit the sand dunes and do some other activities? We may also need a place to take a shower before leaving, I guess. Any suggestions, please. Thanks.

Sorry i can't answer your question accurately... i heard Soyus is a bus company they had kinda lockers for luggages and they do have a hotel... but not quite sure .... think about security first.... maybe the bus company you are travel with can hold your luggage and go huacachina have fun on the Dunes and wait till Arequipa fir a shower if you don't want to a pay a hotel....
but Ica has so many small hotels where you pay 30-+ soles so you arrived leave your stuff and come back shower and go... its more safe i guess

Nao sei se de Lima. Mas chegando em Ica o responsável pelo Pablo Tour foi quem fez meu passeio do dia todo. E foi muito bom o serviço. Nos recepcionaram no terminal de ônibus, foram conosco até o hostel e no dia seguinte nos buscaram e levaram em todos os passeios e depois novamente no hostel.

Recomiendan alguna agencia para hacer el tour desde Ica? Alguna que de tiempo considerable para poder disfrutar de la laguna, y poder andar en bote, además del desierto. Gracias!

Consejo no tomes tours, te cobran el doble del costo y no te dan tiempo de disfrutar, toma un bus que te deja en Ica, hay dos agencias recomendables Soyuz y Cruz del Sur, el terminal de ambas en Ica es una frente a la otra y si deseas puedes caminar 5 cuadras y llegas a la plaza de Armas de Ica, allí puedes ver varios hospedajes, y si deseas ir directo al Oasis de la Huacachina, toma un taxi, el costo no excede de 15 soles, porque esta cerca a la ciudad, obsérvalo en google maps, no te dejes engañar por malos guias, que te hacen creer que queda lejos, eso si apunta la placa del taxi.
