Bhuli Bhatiyari ka mahal. A fascinating piece of history in the midst of a one of the most hustling places of Delhi, near Karol bagh. Its a smallish ancient building - a hunting lodge/inn for travelers (as described by the historians), with nothing much remaining but the outer walls of about 15-18 meters and big courtyards on the inside. A very neat place without much traces of people or litter and has a lot of photo-op. There is nothing much to see inside, except the place has been intriguing the trickle of visitors due to the story of it being haunted and equally eerie name :). A fine place for a morning stroll if you are near by. There are various stories about the place on the internet about it being haunted which make a fun read and visiting the place even more fun :D.

The Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal is a former palace built by Feroz Shah Tughlaq of the Tughlaq Dynasty. The mahal is well hidden in the Central Ridge Reserve Forest of Jhandewalan, behind the Hanuman Temple. The building is said to be haunted. Sure, the building is located in amongst a forested area, which gives it an eerie feeling, but I went and saw a derelict building only. The building is just ruins and there’s not much to see. In fact, you’d be hard pressed to even envisage this building as a former palace.

We were at Karol bagh for some work on a Sunday morning and took the opportunity to visit Bhuli Bhatiyari ka mahal. The way to the spot is a little messy but the place itself was absolutely clean and free from any plastic or littering. It is a charming hunting lodge with lots of greenery and overlooks a pond. There is not much in terms of architecture, but like many other smaller monuments in Delhi, it is a beautiful snippet of Delhi's history. I wish the place is developed as a proper tourist destination as it has a lot of potential for the same. You can take the Metro to Jhandewala Metro station and walk down to the mahal or even drive your car right upto the gate.

An old Tughlaq Era fortification just behind the gigantic Jhandewalan Hanuman Statue onthe South Ridge. Supposedly haunted by a ghostly figure. Quite well preserved unlike Malcha Mahal and also accessible by road.

Said to be a spooky place, we visited this place with family and found this as another creation of Feroz Tughlaq, who had also built Malcha Mahal and other buildings. There are two versions of it being called Chuli Bhatiyari. One is it is named after a Sufi saint and another, a nomad woman from Banjara community made this her residence. Whatever facts, it seems credible that this was made as a hunting Lodge. Whether this is a spooky, we do not know. We found it a quiet place inside the ridge where people come for a walk. This is near Jhandewalan Metro station and Hanuman Statue.

Bhooli Bhatiyari ka Mahal is located on the central reserve ridge, is one such place. This is one of the hunting lodges constructed by Firoz Shah Tughlaq in the 14th Century. The old architectural structure is surrounded by wild shrubs and neglected trees. The monument is in a dilapidated state and there isn’t much to explore. Next to the Mahal is Bhuli Bhatiyari Regional Park which is maintained by DDA. This is generally used by morning walkers and is very green/flowery during September-Mid March. This place is 10 minute walk from Jhandewalan Metro Station and is behind Bagga Petrol Pump and Hanuman Statue. Approach to this place is from Hanuman Statue round about and also from Punchkuin Road Round about. Once I took my Expat Friend for a walk in December 2014. He did not like its approach road from Hanuman Statue.
