Nice temples of Lord Vishnu
apr. 2021
This place is around 33 kms from Mandya in state of karnataka. There are 2 temples of Lord vishnu. One is at the top of the hill and another at the foot hills. We need to climb the steps to reach Yoga Narasimha temple where you can see Lion headed God in Yoga posture. At the foot hills Lord Vishnu is worshipped as cheluvaraya swamy. Both the temples resemble dravidian style with pillared structures and big corridors. On the way to yoga narasimha you can find the temple pond where devotees can take bath

A l'intérieur photo interdite.

Off the beaten track

After time in Bangalore/Bengaluru and even before Mysore/Mysuru, Melukote (not sure why it is spelled differently on TA) was a welcome change. The drive there is not easy, but gets better as you get closer to Melukote. I didn't notice other tourists at all when I was there (on a Saturday). Very easy to get around, but don't expect to engage in conversation if you are not able to speak the local language.

Must visit excellent structures.

Especially the carved pillars inside the temple was amazing and how in 12th century they were able to pull this magnificent feat.
If you are Rajini Fan this place is must watch, remember Subrammanya Swami pillar in the movie Padayappa starting Super star. yup the shooting was done here.
If you are looking for a good Brahman food for lunch there was a Brahman mess within 500 m radius. Check it out. if you want a peaceful & calm atmosphere do visit Kalyani. And the view after you climb 350 steps was great to.. and lots more sightseeing.
