Our tour was booked through GetYourGuide. Our guide, Bharti, spoke excellent English, had a good sense of humour, was very informative and protective, especially navigating the roads and the railway. She also invited us into her humble home for a rest and a drink of water. The tour itself was a very humbling experience, observing unimaginable living and working conditions as they truly exist in the slums of Mumbai - a living environment that no fellow human being should have to endure, day in, day out, for the equivalent of Euro 136 per month. It is a tour for the traveller, not the tourist, and for people who are really interested to learn about the communities in the places that they visit. We truly recommend it as a way to appreciate and be thankful for everything that we have! We were extremely impressed, however, by the fact that 85% of everything dumped here is recycled - unlike where we live when most is dumped in landfill or sold off to China. It is, however, a very labour intensive, work house environment - 12 hours a day!
