Temple is neat and clean and has lot of positive vibes, one can sit for hours and meditate. Abuttting the Temple is river Tunga flowing gracefully with people sitting and enjoying the divineness of the place. There are groups singing Lalita Sahasranama etc.
Overall a visit to the place will cleanse the mind and soul....

Sringeri (ಶೃಂಗೇರಿ) also called Sri Kshetra Shringeri is a hill town located in the state of Karnataka ,It is located on the banks of the river Tunga. It is the site of the first matha (Sringeri Sharada Peetham) established by Adi Shankara.
According to legend, Adi Shankaracharya is said to have selected the site as the place to stay and teach his disciples, because when he was walking by the Tunga river, he saw a cobra with a raised hood, providing shelter from the hot sun, to a frog undergoing labour. Impressed with the place where natural enemies had gone beyond their instincts.
In frame: Shringeri Sharadamba Temple.

Adhisankara Bhagavat patha the great Saint, the holy incarnation of Mahadeva(Siva) in earth to correct the path the way Sanathana Dharma(The Hindu Religion) was going bad. He preached many good aspects, corrected worst practices (Ex. Animal killing practices in Kanchi) and proclaimed many pooja practices in famous temples across india. He established 4 madas at 4 corners, Sirngeri is one among the four in south direction. He choosed this place where he can see a pregnant frog been guarded in sun heat by Hissing Cobra, such divinity this place have (this stone sculpture can be seen in the steps of Tungabadra river still, dont miss it to see). Saradha is the divine name of Vidhya roopa of Devi. Old statue is of Sandal wood which can be seen in the vidhya sankara temple side. Saradha devi is adorned daily with many different alagara and Maha sanithanam of Mutt performs puja in morning, We visited during Navarattri where daily procession in evening and morning pooja is done. Vidhya sankara is the oldest temple and with fine architecture. Also visit the Mutt which is to cross the river and you have small parks and other adhistanams of earlier Madathipathis. Heavy rain can be witnessed during rainly season especially during navaratri period. Darbar function is also available during nights of navaratri. Perenial river where people used to bath and then visit temple, full of fish, where you can feed with rice flakes. Visited from bangalore boarding KSRTC bus, one day trip but worth for all

One of the best religious places and I think other temple authorities should take a point or two from this temple. First the accommodation is really good, though temple maintained you get a clean room for a budget price

This is the one of the 4 temples constructed by adi shankaracharya. He is the life saver of the hindu religion. His dedication towards learning all the vedas and debating as a guru who represents the hindu religion when all were converting to other religion saved us from being extinction.

May be you can get kumkum, but real aroma and colour of Kumkum is from Madurai Meenkashi Amman temple shopping area called Puthumandabam. If you are from Tamil Nadu, visit once and get stock for a year or two....
