We visited this place in September 2023. Batasia Loop attracts people for spectacular view of Mt. Kanchenjunga & other snow capped Himalayan Peaks.
open to visitors from 6 am to 5 pm every day of the week, including Sundays. There is a small entry fee of 20 rupees per person at the entrance; however, those who have already purchased tickets for the toy train do not need to pay this fee. The Batasia Loop is a spiral railway created to lower the gradient of ascent of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway in Darjeeling . Must Visit place when you are in Darjeeling

We visited the loop through the toy train and I would recommend that as a better option when compared with going by car as there tends to be huge jams around the point. The place is beautiful with a memorial for our soldiers and several small shop keepers selling their wares around it. Watching the train loop around is a wonderful experience.

Nice place with beautiful garden and a gorkha war memorial in centre. The toy train takes a circle of the loop in its ride and takes a stop in batasia loop for 10 minutes. Nice place to visit and on a clear day you can even get the site of kanchenjunga mountain.

A beautiful place where the Heritage Toy train takes a loop like turn and stops for people to see around. One can also take photos wearing the local costume and do some winter woollies shopping.

There is a proud memorial for Gorkha Martyrs at Batasia Loop which is inspiring and humbling . This memorial is amidst , a beautiful garden around which the World Heritage Toy Train loops. The combination of the sobriety of the memorial and the beauty of the garden and old world charm of a heritage toy train is at once incongruous and unique.

The Batasia Loop offers awe-inspiring views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The view is simply magical, and I found myself lost in the beauty of the place. They also have a photo-taking spot that says "I ❤️ Darjeeling", and it makes for a perfect picture to take back home as a memory of this beautiful place.
One of the highlights of the Batasia Loop is that the toy train runs through it, making it a unique experience. Toy trains are such a lovely way to view the beautiful hills and valleys of Darjeeling. Watching the train go around the loop was a treat in itself.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Batasia Loop and would highly recommend it to anyone who is planning to visit Darjeeling. With its stunning mountain views, photo-taking area, and toy train running through, it is definitely a place that should be on your itinerary while exploring Ghoom.

Batasia Loop is a park which is well known for it's beauty at Darjeeling. The queen of the mountain Darjeeling is famous for its Toy train ride, and this train passes through Batasia Loop in a spiral way.
The place is one of the most visited place at Darjeeling. Well maintained park along with a mountain view sitting place attracts most of the tourists here. The Toy train also gives a long stop here.
If you are in Darjeeling then this should be your tour package and you will enjoy a lot.
Highly recommend to visit..

Small but nice garden. Great views of Darjeeling city. Go for the binoculars. If doing the joy ride, it's included and need not plan separately.

What is the history behind naming the loop as 'Batasia Loop'? Someone said that during developing the route map of the toy train by one British personnel, he was in trouble to prepare the line at the spot of Batasia loop because of different hight of hills. For two days he was puzzled on developing the route map. So he was not taking food properly and timely but was thinking about the same.
A local housemaid, known as ' Batasia' who would prepare his food since long, observed his perplexed situation. She asked him the reason. He explained his problem to the housemaid. The housemaid told him to make an extra round of railway track around the hill to adjust the hight with next hill.
The idea helped the British personnel to solve the route related problem and his proposal of making the name of the loop after that housemaid. It was accepted and since then the loop is known as 'Batasia Loop'.
Probably the British personnel was known as Edward.
However, I am eager to know whether the above story is fact or not.

Planning a trip to Darzeeling .wonder if I should there in May end or in October when flowers are in plenty.please adcvice
Skrevet 31. mars 2016
Flowers bloom at their best in spring season, so best time is just after the winter. However if you plan to do so in May/October. I would recommed you to do so in early May, you will enjoy your time in darjeeling.
