Its very unlikely that you would find this place unless you really search for it in Kolkata. The Google map brought us very close, we went into the extremely crowded market and missed the entry to the Church. Finally some people guided us there. Inside it is such a peaceful place and amazing place with the history that lies within it.

The Armenian Holy Church of Nazareth, is an 18th-century Armenian Apostolic church, serving as the center of the Armenian Community in Kolkata and the seat of the Armenian Vicariate of India and the Far East. It is affiliated to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin of the Armenian Apostolic Church. It was built in 1724 on the old cemetery of the Armenian community, through the efforts of Agha Nazar.

This is an American Church. It is beautiful architecture and you really feel peace and tranquility once you are inside. There is a cemetery and some of the tombs are very old. You will really like this place once you are there.

Armenians occupy is still a small community living in Calcutta, this Church is located in a crowded street, Armenian Street. The church marks the history and the lives lost in the wars.
Probably the only Armenian Church in the country, this is a great visit.

Located in an over crowded trade district, this is the oldest and one of the three Armenian churches in Kolkata. The courtyard serves (or rather used to serve) as a cemetery, some of the tombs are really old, dating back to the 18th century, and the church is open to visit. Unfortunately, they don't allow you take pictures (and no one seems to know the reason). The church is maintained well.

Surrounded by hustle bustle of busy markets this place will provide you just a serendipity.

This is the one oldest church in the city set up by the Armenian community. The church is built on a cemetery and access to the church is over the tombstones that are set on the pathway. The church is surrounded by dingy shops all around and is therefore difficult to seek even though you may be standing close to it.

what a beautiful and serene place! and what a contrast to the surroundings! this is Calcutta history. it also includes a graveyard. very tough for tourists to reach.

It was great to know the history, how they came here and all the backgrounds. Amazing to know that they came so long ago and this is the oldest church outside Iran. I was fortunate enough to witness one old parsi man came and pray when i was visiting.
