We visited the temple several times in the past, last time in 2015.
They were pleasant experiences ,then we could walk the courtyard bare feet and the temple looked like a temple from outside. Could see the actual idol. In the evening chanting and kriton songs. This time totally different experience. Though visiting the place now possible by Underground , but the gateway not straight walk to temple ,ups and downs, through hard steps , not possible for old or one with weak knees. But actual temple totally hidden now . Long walk through hidden walkway to see the idol. , and frequent announcements which were unnecessary breaking the solitude ,holy atmosphere of the temple. Perhaps announcers enjoy listening their own voices. The Ganges nearby but holy tree not approachable also rooms of Ramkrishna Thakur now shut. We however saw them before. Temple authority perhaps will blame the visitors’ numbers rather than own their apathy or lack of enthusiasm.many shops selling colourful objects and pickles as go out for return journey.

I visited Dakshineswar temple during the last week of December and the place was completely packed with queues running for about a km on all sides. Would suggest to take prasad from the counters opposite the temple and keep your shoes in the shop itself. No bags or mobile phones are allowed inside. The place had a lot of langurs some of which were also snatching belongings of people or hitting them. Along with that it had lot of stray dogs as well and dustbins were difficult to find which made people throw things on the premises at random. The Kali darshan was good but lasted only for few seconds because of the queues. The 12 jyotirling darshan is also something that should not be missed as you can see Hooghly river just behind them.
Would have preferred a more calm and peaceful environment which is possible only on non holiday days.

Very nice temple, but they don't let tourists enter, it is next to a pond, and the most beautiful thing is the atmosphere that is created by locals, especially in the afternoons...

Amazingly amazing temple with so much history. We visited during the Durga Pooja week. Though it was pretty crowded. But as soon as you enter the temple and see Durga maa’s idol it was such a serene feeling, can’t even explain in words. If you are in Kolkata must visit this temple

This tempe is located on the banks of the river Ganges. Although the Kali temple has it's significance from the British era during which it was built by Rani Rashmoni who was a devotee of Lord Ram. Later on, Lord RamaKrishna became the main priest of Goddess Maa Bhabatarini, (a form of Goddess Parvati) worshipped as the main deity of this temple. Every year, during the Kali Pujas, Dakshineshwar Maa Bhabatarini temple is decorated with lights and the puja is performed in a great way. Dakshineshwar is another name of Lord Shiva and previously before the construction of this temple started, this place was an extremely sacred place, dedicated to Lord Bholenath.
