This place has a lot of personal importance to me. Having finally arrived at the place where Paramhansa Shri Ramkrishna practiced, preached, and lived his life was very emotional. The management has put in a lot of effort to enable the common man to visit and pay their respects to Mata Kali and Shri Krishna.

This is not a place will recommend to travel, people who travel there usually have relatives or grew up there or some ancestors once lived there. Roads are dangerous actually no footpaths ,or with pot holes and broken or street dogs lying in sleep, footpaths usually occupied by Hawkers ,whose life story usually so tragic if hear will like to buy his things. One seller sitting in a dark corner said he was so sad had not heard anything from his relatives for over two months in neighbouring Bangladesh. When went back after a fortnight he was not there.Road crossings are dangerous , especially two wheelers are running in every directions and big cars on narrow roads.
Food once an attraction now no more ,with excess chemicals all vegetables taste same , sweet shops are everywhere but hygiene not recommend. Same for street food once a delight now for hygiene won’t recommend.walking in Boipara is not safe traffic and people overflowing. No parks green areas and foot paths non existent therefore elderly people confined to homes , people generally imitated not in good health. Underground service doesn’t cover outside centre of the city and bus service irregular and overflowing with passengers. Praise for bus conductors how these imitated hard working people take bus fares in cash then refund the change right amount to right person. Drinking water not safe from tap ,dengue and malaria still occur inside the city. For a stop over for a day or two should be fine living with all precautions but for who grew up there or have elderly relatives may stay for more days.

Devotional place to visit with family. The temple court yard is vast and well decorated and organised. We enjoy there very much and spent almost 4 hours. Ghat of Ganges river is a beautiful place where one can view the scenic beauty of MA GANGA. Food court is awsome.

Good and serene place but I am really not aware why they don't allow to carry mobile. Even footwear need to remove and need to walk on cemented area with bare foot. Little away from Kali Ghat Temple but this place doesn't have the pandas who ask money for all reasons like they do in Kali Ghat temple..

The temple vibe was nice and soothing. We visited at 7 am and the temperature was cool. It took us 45 minutes to visit the whole temple complex.
There’s main temple of Kaali Maa and 12 smaller temples of Shiva.
The temple wall has nice non-deity carvings.

As a tourist, this temple had little to offer.
Queues were long and the main queue inside the main temple complex was only to have an offering blessed.
You can appreciate that it is a place importance as a religious site, but it has very limited aesthetic/architectural interest.

A different vibes is there, inside the temple mobile phone is prohibited. Beside this the line is too long for puja, like 30-45 minutes waiting in line. Best day to visit is Tuesday and Saturday for puja if you can wait in line.

I visited Dakshineswar temple in October 2024 during Durga Pooja Season.
Visiting it is a Divine Experience and the moment you look at the Maa Idol , you get transformed.
The temple is known for its association with Ramakrishna and Ma Sarada Dev. You shall also find a room where Ramakrishna used to meditate.
Few Must Do activity
---------------------------
When visiting the temple there are queues for Side and Front Darshan. Please ensure you join the right line to get good Darshana.
I shall recommend getting Front Darshana of devi maa.
One Must do 12 jyotirlinga darshan and also have awesome view of Hooghly river just behind them.
Visit Room where Ramakrishna used to Meditate. There are some Photos describing moments from Ramakrishna .
When visiting the temple there are queues for Side and Front Darshan. Please ensure you join the right line to get good darshan. I shall recommend getting Front Darshana of devi maa.
I shall recommend visiting the temple Early morning in between 5 AM to 8 AM.
After 8, due to bright sunlight, you shall feel hot.
Take prasad from the counters opposite the temple and keep your shoes in the shop itself. You can save the time to deposit shoes at the Counter .
No bags or mobile phones are allowed inside, Please ensure you deposit them at the designated counter. There is a charge for depositing.
Calcutta though in IST time zone has day starting and ending earlier . you might notice the sun rising up at 5:30 AM where in the sun rises at 6:30 AM In Delhi.
One can take the boat from exit of temple to Belur Math.
Ferry can be crowded so plan accordingly.

Serene experience. Very pious and sanctified place. Although on certain days the devotees will be more in numbers depending on the tithi.

I am very much interested to visit that in march of 2024. I will appreciate details. Thanks a lot for your help and time. Shrikrishna Dhawale

Hi Friends!
I want to visit the Dakhineshwar temple directly from airport on 13.01.2022 Thursday I'll be landed in airport by morning 08:00 am and later I want to catch train from howrah station. Can you all suggest me few things?
1) Travel time from the DumDum Airport to temple?
2) Baggage room availability?
3) On Thursday 13.01.2022, how much time it might take for the Darshan/Puja
4) Temple to howrah station bus service and travel time ( As the train timing is 14:00 hours on 13.01.2022)
Thanks,
Biltu Sahu
