Honestly not much to see or do but this is what you do in Malacca.
Somehow it’s always part of itinerary for every trip there.

Excellent day out. Busy all around Jonker Street on a Sunday plus the night market which begins at 6pm.
Lots to see, shop and eat. Prices are cheaper than KL or Penang

The Portuguese Square is at the heart of Melaka's Portuguese settlement and comprises a courtyard with a number of seafood restaurants, some bars and a small museum. The harbourfront is right in front and a nice walk along the harbour.

This time of the alert on Coronavirus see less crowd visiting the Pottrguese Square. The food stored are still crowded but not as before. We had our seafood dinner. After dinner we were at the De Melios Pub listening to oldies. Nice evening with friends.

Nice place with bit of a Harbourfront and walkway to take pics as sun sets. Just be wary of hawkers from restaurants who try to grab your attention and start pestering. A firm no may help in getting away from them. We told them upfront that we will choose via reviews and after scouting the place. Walk way is a nice place to sit and relax with nice photo opportunity.

A day trip to Malacca is a must if you have not been there. It is an amazing old city with a lot of history.
I only visited a few but the Portuguese quarter is quaint with a lot of old buildings existing. There are a lot of churches and a visit to the original burial site of St .Francis Xavier is a must.
A private taxi for a full day tour from KL costs approx $RM400.00 and would take 8 hours.

Just look around the town you still can enjoy Portuguese dishes at the restaurant inside this small town but they serve in dinner time.

Tired of the usual visits to Jonker Street, St Paul's church vicinity, Nonya or Baba food, why not take a 30 mins car ride from city centre Mahkota to this Portuguese enclave.
Recommended dishes are the devil curry chicken, bakes brinjal, and the especially good baked fish(bating fish caught from the Malacca Straights sea nearby) which is really a different gourmet experience). Our food were recommended and served by Mr Albert of Restaurant De Lisbon
Cooler to visit in evening perhaps as it was hot when we were there at 3 to 4.30 pm.
Good photo shoots of the smaller version of Brazil's famed Christ the Redeemer after meal.

Hi! Will this place be open on christmas day itself (25th dec)? thank you :))
Skrevet 20. desember 2018
What's the best time to visit on December? When they are setup the Xmas deco. ..?
Skrevet 8. november 2016
Normally in the past, a few weeks before Christmas time, they started to decorate but the decoration was very simple and not as grand as expected.. In fact, there are only a few shops and few Portuguese restaurants inside the Square with a small stage which they had a little concert there. There are also restaurants outside (not inside the Square) which offer very good and Spicy Portuguese cuisine but the price was a little expensive. I am not too sure whether these restaurants are still there as my last visit there a few months ago, there was no activities during the day. A hotel was built near the Square a few years ago where tourists can lodge.
