As a first time visitor to the Cook Islands this museum gave us a fantastic insight into the history and ancestry of them. Really well thought out narrative guided you through the museum in a natural and informative way. Not overwhelming if museums aren’t normally your thing but plenty of detail if they are. Thank you Stan for the extra insight, it was lovely to meet you.
Also check out the shop selling local art and products. Theres also a great cafe as well.

We walked past this several times before working out what it was- a social enterprise that has an excellent museum attached. Unlike the govt museum that focuses on post european settlement , this interactive museum included pre European settlement and doesn't pulling punches in the story telling. Having Dan to help with interpretation is a real bonus.
Excellent photos and story board, supported with a large list of video's.
Very professional presentation that anyone who wants to look beyond the booze and the beach should see.

We have stopped by the museum multiple times on our trip to Raro and Indi always welcomed us with a smile and a warm welcome. The food was very tasty with lots of healthy options, not to mention Indi’s great coffees.

Highly recommend. Thanks guys 😃

A wonderful way to get an understanding of the Cook Islands. The displays are simple and informative and you can chat to the staff for more information. The cafe has great food.

A must visit for visitors to the Island, indeed for locals ,as well. A very interesting, informative presentation of early settlements and early history. Not at all boring, as some museums can be.
The presentation is superb and well worth the time spent within the exhibition.

This is a relatively new museum in Muri. Most of the display is by way of banners telling the story of Rarotonga. Knowledgeable and friendly staff on hand to talk to. I thought they could do with more items on display.
Also serve good food and coffee, and were kind enough to let us stay for an extra hour sheltering from a storm.
Worth a visit with kids or if on your first visit to Rarotonga.

I thought I knew quite a bit about the Polynesian voyages around the Pacific but there was a LOT that I learnt at this museum. Much of it thanks to Stan who could not possibly have been more helpful and informative. So thanks Stan! This is Freddy and Carol - somehow i could not log in to my Trip Advisor account.

Lovely museum, cafe and gift shop. Cafe food and coffee very tasty. Guided tour of the museum recommended. Kids were 5 and nearly 8 and didn’t last all that long unfortunately. Beautifully presented.

Fantastic guide Stan who explained about people migration BC to these islands, their navigation knowhow, their cultural practices. A modern museum, well presented, also a good giftshop and cafe attached.
