Even when the fish runs are high, Ed's Kasiof/Tanners fish processing will do everything they can to make sure your fish are properly taken care of. I've used them for six years and have never had anything but top-notch service. Hats off to Betty Jean and all the crew who work so hard to make sure the results of your fishing vacation make it home safely.

This place is now called Tanner's Alaskan Seafood - and a sign said new management.
The two stars is for the horrible customer service - the guy who handle our fish is friendly, but the lady in the counter, Betty Jean (from the receipt), made the whole transaction bitter. She was angry with a customer on the phone when we arrived. Then she pretty look down on my friend and I - even before we utter a word (while she is on the phone). When we asked about the pricing, she just told us (again in angry tone) to come out with her with the cart. Then upon weighting the fishes we have, she was like "do you really want to pay that. much to ship when you are paying for 10lb?" I understand she is trying to be reasonable, but her tone make it sounds like our business is too little for her time.
the shipment was fast and arrive just as expected - which save me from rating this a one star.
I don't ever write reviews, but this attitude left me so bitter that I just need to tell the world that unless you have no choice - don't come here.

In 2016 I bought fish from Ed Kailofs and it was great , packaged well and the correct fish. The last 2 times I subsequently ordered I received Tanners fish...problem is I ordered spot prawns and both times I just got some pink prawns that were not even close to being spot prawns. The cod was also sub par quality. Now I see that Tanners bought Ed Kassilof so that explains it. I did email to request an explanation about the prawns but never heard back. Its too bad Ed Kasilof sold - they were great. I will not be buying from Tanners again ever .

I ordered $212 worth of seafood online. The order arrived quickly, but the 4 x 1 pound (64 ozs.) pieces of Black Cod for $108 turned out to be 8 little pieces 4-5 ozs each, and their total weight including all packaging came to 43 ozs. I immediately emailed them about the problem and received no reply. I emailed again to a different email address for them, still no reply. I have disputed the purchase with my credit card company, and they removed the entire charge. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY.

This is the place to go when processing your fish, whether you are a local or a tourist. They take care of everything, including freezer storage, until it's time to leave. We dropped of our catch each evening and picked it all up the day we flew home. Reasonable pricing and excellent service.

We came here and had them package and ship 15lbs. of coho back to our home. They did a very good job and it arrived exactly when they said it would. It was also a quick process and friendly service. They also smoke salmon or just vacuum freeze it for you.

Have used them for years, though I think there were recently bought out by Tanners. Regardless, I am completely satisfied with the processing, storage and boxing of our fish. They also allowed me to exchange some fresh salmon for some smoked salmon, for a normal fee and had our fish ready to go when we said we'd be by to pick them up. They did a great job and I would use them again next time I am in Soldotna.

Our guide recommended this place to get our salmon processed and shipped home. Everyone was friendly and seemed very efficient. But when my fished did not arrive home when it was suppose to I called back and the young man had put our order in the will pick up file. I explained to the lady on the phone that I needed my shipped out the next day and my nephew and nephew in law needed there's shipped out the next week. Well mine still didn't show up at home. I was still in Alaska, my partner was home in Missouri and we were leaving for Michigan as soon as I got home. So I called a 3rd time and spoke with an older man, Luke, who straightened out our 3 orders.
My advice if you go in with a group and are shipping to 2 or more (we had 3) different addresses, separate your fish before weighing. All 3 of our orders were found under my nephew in law's name, when called and they found is then they found mine and my nephews all filed together. The two have received their fish and mine should ship out this coming Monday. PS my niece said they did get a shipping notice email from Ed's (Also known as Tanner's in Soldotna).

Betty Jean Handled our order, so pleasant and efficient. Everything ready to go on time. Very professional. Additional frozen items available inside! We completed our box of fin fish with scallops and crab legs! Can’t wait to get home and enjoy them!

They did a great job of packaging, freezing and boxing our salmon/halibut. There were 5 of us and they boxed and identified all our fish according to our very unique instructions. It took us over 24 hours on planes/driving to get home and everything was still frozen. Great job

Is the delivery guaranteed on the fish?

I don't know about a guarantee. We were recommended to them by our fishing guide who we really liked and had been guiding for a few years. We had to call at least 3 times to get our fished shipped to 3 different homes within the US. Our family went into this company and they weighed all our salmon at the sometime. Then we filled out forms with our names, addresses, number of pounds of fish and the date we want it shipped. Since I had someone at home my was suppose to ship out the following Monday arriving on Tuesday. It didn't show so I called. They found all 3 of our orders under my niece's name and that we were going to pick it up. The women I spoke with said she would get mine shipped out on Thursday and put the other 2 in the proper file to be shipped out on July 30th. Well my fish didn't show up on that Friday. I called and got Luke who did straighten out our orders and got all 3 shipped with my being a new date and my other family members on the correct date. Luke said the young man who helped us made the mistake of filing us wrong. My suggestion if you use them is to follow up on your shipment. Shipments go out Monday through Thursday around 930am AK time and Fed Ex is used. Good luck.
