It is essentially a tourist trap. Asked a merchant where the Historical Society was ( Google Maps got it wrong) and they did not know there was such an organization in town. Finally found it and it was closed. Oh well. Lots of noisy cycles and cars, not what I ws hoping for.

As we strolled through downtown Jerome we saw the sign for this museum and thought, “why not?”. Ended up, this was the highlight of our day in Jerome. The historical society put this together and upgraded it during COVID. It has a fascinating history of the mines and town (intertwined), but what’s is amazing is the extent of their artifact collection. They covered all aspects of life in early Jerome and the mines in interesting detail. The exhibits on the education system, saloons, and even brothels were impressively informative. My only critique is they should charge more than $2 ($1 for seniors) admission!

The Jerome Historical Society has a museum, which is located in the back section of a building behind a small shop. While the museum isn't overly large, there is a lot of items and information on display concerning the history of Jerome. Museum is very well organized, so there's various sections pertaining to different eras and/or aspects of Jerome's history. I personally appreciated the quality of the organization, since it helped define details versus feeling like somebody just threw a lot of antiques into a display case.

There is a nominal fee to gain admittance into the museum section, but the tour was well worth the few dollars it cost. Tour is self-guided, so you can go as quickly or slowly as you want/need. Wouldn't say that you need to visit the museum to enjoy the rest of Jerome, but we did gain some insights to the town by learning more of its history.

This is an Arizona State Park so there is a fee. Recommend buying a AZ Annual State Park Pass... will save in the long run if you are visiting other State Parks. The museum's video is a must see. All those huge buildings you see on the hillsides are named and described. The museum, a former home, is extremely well done. Exhibits are fun and interesting. The vistas are amazing. Park employee was exceptional. The glass bottom mine shaft is just outside the museum gates. Worth driving along those meanduring roads to get to it.

I love this little museum shop. Hand sanitizer greets you at the door. This is especially important since this type of shop means touching small objects.

Very friendly proprietor. Great variety of copper merchandise. Beautiful selection.

This is a walk at your own pace museum (inside). This tells the story of Jerome and how it came about with old equipment and displays of living in Jerome. You can spend a good 1-2 hours here if you read each story line under the pictures. There is also a gift shop on the premises.

This was worth the $2 entry fee for a half an hour visit. interesting characters have made their way through this little town. Make sure to throw a penny in the outhouse on your way out!

We enjoyed our stop at the Jerome Museum. They had a video that featured the history of the town with original pictures. It gave you that feel of the 1800s to 1900s mining life in that town. They had many artifacts and displays. When you leave and go into the town and pass the mine, you have a better understanding of their history. We didn’t pay a fee to go in, but left a donation. It’s worth a stop if you are staying in Sedona or Cottonwood or if you are driving thru on your way to Prescott.
