Visiting the Lady of her beautiful house was an absolutely amazing experience; the history; the cracks of the wooden floors; the authenticity, I am still overwhelmed!! I am sending all my friends and family to experience this beauty!!! My phone died half way.... and it was really hard not to touch anything 😀

Katharine has a wealth of knowledge about the Victorian era. She personally leads you through her home, filled with artifacts from the Victorian and Edwardian times, giving historical facts and personal insight in every room. The museum now boasts a Victorian style emporium and conservatory. This is well worth a visit. Unfortunately high tea is not available at the moment, as covid reduces hopefully this will return.

This is one of the most well curated museums I have ever visited. The tour guide, Katherine was very knowledgeable on the history, culture and social norms and mores of the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Each part of the house is well kept, with meticulous maintenance on all the curiosities, décor and antiquities. All parts of the house are accurately representative of the time and milieu. As you step into the house and travel through each room you are transported through space and time to an earlier era. In here you can almost smell and feel what it is really like in the Victorian Era.
All in all this is one of the most historically accurate and educational tours I have ever been to and I do hope that it stays this way for generations to come.

Lindberg Victorian home / museum is a gem. Unlike similar attractions, thus is beautifully curated by Lady Katherine (my name for her). It does not look like a collection of curios but a real, lived in, home of the 19th century. And it still is a home which is perhaps why it is so good. A must see.

I knew nothing about the Victorian time when I went there and yet Katherine managed to pitch the tour on a level that has something for everyone. Tea and cake are not currently avalible (June 2021) but well worth a visit if you are interested in a trip down memory lane for young and old alike. Well maintained and inviting.

Even though the museum looks a little run down on the inside, especially in the drawing room, there is an authenticity to that which adds charm to the entire experience. The love, interest, and knowledge of the museum’s curator, and as she tells it, her mother before her, pours through every story told about each item.
A wealth of resources, time, love, and attention has been paid to build this up over many years. The richness of this is what we enjoyed as we visited each room, heard the stories and peered through items of that bygone era which for good or ill, shaped a lot of the world as we know know it.
Everyone of us had a favorite piece or favorite room at the end of the tour. We’d recommend it.
It was sad to think that all of this could be lost when this curator is too old to keep it going.

I visited the museum again and was hugely impressed, again! What can one say about instantly stepping back in time and experiencing a Victorian family home as it was back then? There is now also the Lindfield Emporium - an authentic Victorian shop with many items that are for sale - a remarkable place. I love the photo studio with a typically Victorian painted backdrop in front of which you can take a selfie or just pose for a photo. (You have to use your smart phone camera). There are also Victorian outfits you can put on (at a fee) for the photos - how cool it that! I'm sure if I visit this place 5 more times, I'll see something new and learn something new every time. Katharine is unbelievably knowledgeable on all things Victorian - you can ask her just about anything.

My wife is obsessed with victorian clothes, architecture, and furniture. She has had this museum on her 'things-to-do' list for a long time. She dragged me and our kids along for the outing. We were somewhat reluctant. But it was fascinating and amazing. An unbelievably knowledgeable guide. A beautifully decorated house that captures the era perfectly. Johannesburg has always been our home and this gave us a wonderful glimpse into our last.

A fascinating experience going back in time - so many interesting things are housed here, and the tour with Miss Love, who lives in and collects the things for this house is a must for anyone interested in history and Johannesburg. Well worth a tour!

At the time my husband and I visited, the museum had a special exhibition of wedding dresses from several decades displayed on mannequins. Otherwise there weren’t any.
