Took my daughter out for a daddy daughter date. She loved the zoo. The zoo is small enough to walk around in full over a couple of hours and still have lunch as well. The restaurant on site is a bit basic so you could be better off bringing your own picnic basket.
Zoo is also very popular with nursery schools in the area who make day trips here so while we were there there were lots of other children there as well.
Great place to take little ones for a day out.
They have the big cats but don't have the bigger animals like giraffe and elephant and antelope.

Lory Park Zoo is well kept, the facility is clean and secure. Easy access from Johannesburg or Pretoria, the staff are very friendly, the kids enjoyed the day out. Highly Reccomended.

This was the best daytrip we ever had! Such a massive variety of animals! The zoo and animals are kept up very neatly. Beautiful paths and very kid friendly. An absolute must!

Lovely safe experience. You can have a picnic as well. Wide variety of animals and lots of fun for the little ones. It is a bit small tho and the actual road by the park is terrible with big jagged stones. Important to mention as people with cars that aren't bakkie or SUV's will have to be careful when entering. The park can do more to pave that portion.

This amazing animalbrehad sanctuary is open to the public and is a great way for kids and animals to see some very spectacular and endangered birds, primates and other animals including Lions and Tigers. It is well worth a visit. Lots of informative plaques and notes at each cage tell the whole story.

There different types of birds and other few types of animals here. They do have feeding hours which I missed. Some friends said it is interesting to watch.

The childrens party held at Lory Park zoo was fun and they saw the lions and tigers being fed. I enjoyed the variety of animals and birds which are there.

What a nice place! Value for money. And then the animals cages is so clean! The animals them self looks healthy and very happy. We have been to lots of small animal parks but this one is defnitly the best by far!!! 10 out of 10 for the owners and all the people that works there!! Great job!!

Its a nice place to visit with children. The zoo is not too big which enables even the little ones to walk. We were lucky to get there when the lions and Jaguars were being fed.
Children can even take pictures with some of the animals like owls and rabbits.

can I bring in own food in and picnic ? and what is the cost of playing with the cubs ?

Yes you can take you own food and drinks. people were braaing as there is space for that....they also had kids parties near the Cubs. Sorry I didnt check the price of playing with the Cubs as I was with a 2 year old.

You book it with them at the gate or at the tuck shop. Last time I was there, there were baby Cheetahs, lion's and vultures.

Adults are R100 and kids over 2 are R70. There are also animal encounters which you can pay extra for. They take credit cards.

You can see most 'zoo' animals but several smaller types of the cat genus. However, this is the place to be if you want to get closer than any zoo and game park. Not all the animals will be "touch mode" so you can't demand but there will definitely be a couple that you can experience up close and personal creating a lifetime memory.

My daughter turns 11. Very much into conservation and loves animals. She wants to come to Lory Park for her Birthday. Can you do an educational/conservation tour on a Saturday morning for about 10 people? They would also like to have the cub encounter.
