Great wine tasting at the Uitsig Wine Estate.
Sam was very knowledgeable and guided us through the tasting. The team are very pleasant and there are plenty of eateries nearby aswell.

R20 entry is a trifling amount. The wines are fantastic numerous style eating options super friendly staff and a bike park to entertain kids. We are so impressed our visits are in double figures for our 5wk holiday. We have visited lots of vineyards over last 20 years in RSA and this is great. Another local wine farm got a major thumbs down from us so I try to be subjective and honest. Visit you won't be disappointed

20 R to park your car in a dusty, unpaved parking lot and then eat run-of-the-mill meals?!

Just had lunch at The Blockhouse on the Constanta uitsig estate. Mediocre charcuterie and cheese platters. Good service but what a cheek the Estate has to charge you to park when you going to spend money there! Won’t be going back as there are plenty of much more friendly winerys to visit in Constanta

What a beautiful outing for the whole family, with or without wine!
Kristen handmakes every aspect of her small batch ice cream, with ever evolving flavours, and the Heritage Gardens at this time of year are spectacular.

This is a very new-looking development with a shiny, super-modern bottling plant, several pretty little Cape Dutch-style buildings for various eateries, and a superb flower garden. The view over the mountains and vineyards is absolutely gorgeous, and it has a spacious, open feeling.
Unfortunately, its potential falls down somewhat with the way it’s been set up and how clearly commercialised it is - it lacks charm and friendliness. The multiple signs reminding you in large letters to pay for your parking leave a bit of a nasty taste in the mouth. It’s only R20 but it’s rather cheeky to expect people to come to your winery and cough up parking money – this isn’t a shopping mall.
Then, there isn’t anything clearly telling you how/where to pay this parking fee. There also aren’t clear signs or a map showing where the different restaurants and cafes are (or maybe we just didn't see them among all the 'pay your parking' signs). All of which leaves one feeling like the guests’ comfort and experience is secondary to their money. (And, yes, we all know we’re there to spend money, but a little subtlety goes a long way - and at least don’t make people wander around, clueless as to how to pay the money you keep asking for…)
It would be vastly improved with a nice, clear map up or signs pointing to the different places right by the parking area, or at least on the website. Stuff seems a bit ‘all over the place’ so it would help to know in which direction to walk, especially as we had 2 elderly people with us!
(For anyone wondering: Nest Deli, Four & Twenty, the ice cream parlour, Fisherman’s Cottage and sushi restaurant are to your right – sort of hidden behind the car exit boom in the “Heritage Market”. The Blockhouse Kitchen is to the right and easy to find. We never actually found Aegir Brewhouse which is advertised online as being in the Heritage Market but we didn’t see it there.)
I did, however, really enjoy the signs about the animals of the area, e.g. baboons, Cape Bat-eared Fox, etcetera - a lovely touch. And the rose/flower garden with all the fountains is really lovely! Could spend all day there. Clearly, a lot of hard work has gone into landscaping this.
Bottom line: Constantia Uitsig has potential and is a nice place - all the ingredients for a fabulous experience are there! - but needs a little work on improving guest experience. With a few small changes, it could be unforgettable for all the right reasons. However, we will not be returning as it just felt a bit like a mall.
PS: I suggest paying a copy editor for signage as the sign for taking a parking ticket at the entrance is spelled incorrectly, as is the sign by the rose garden telling people that their children cannot be 'unacompanied' (sic). It's the little things that make a difference.

Great family option! Pump track with bikes for rent (or bring your own). Several dining options, including great sushi. The ice cream, though, is the best! Only downside is not open on Sundays…

Fantastic outing with many options ranging from wine, bicycling, sushi, ice cream, various restaurants, etc. Access was very simple from parking, to paths to venues and people with limited mobility could certainly visit here. The bathrooms were fitted out properly for all. The Nest was particularly wonderful.

I wanted to try the newly open Four and twenty coffee shop at constantia uitsig, after my very enjoyable visits in The wynberg original coffeshop. What a mistake... When you arrive on the farm, you really feel the commercial vibe... A real money making business, which will never make me come back...
How come do they charge the parking if you go and eat at the restaurant????
To me, it was too crowded... The nice family vibe that I liked in Wynberg is totally non existent in Constantia...
That's sad...
